I'm the sort of person who spends only about 25% of my EU4 time with the game actually running. I put painful levels of effort into researching exactly what my provinces and cities should be called. I've just taken Bessarabia from the Ottomans? Better spend an hour figuring out exactly what a 17th-century Norwegian would call that region if it had just spent the last century ruled by Turkish-speakers. While I understand that most players don't care at all for such details, it would mean a great deal to me if I had the ability to change other such things to better my immersion, and it wouldn't get in the way of people who aren't interested in this level of customisation. Specifically, I'd lbe very happy to be able to do at least some of the following things:
  • Rename characters (generals, advisors, agents, rulers/dynasties, et cetera) within my own nation
  • Rename my nation
  • Rename other nations (in singleplayer)
  • Rename other nations' provinces and cities (in singleplayer)
  • Rename other nations' rulers/dynasties (in singleplayer)
  • Rename seazones (in singleplayer?)
  • Rename cultures (in singleplayer)
  • Alter my map colour
  • Alter other nations' map colours (in singleplayer)
  • Alter the graphical culture of my units and buildings
  • Alter the graphical culture of other nations' units and buildings (in singleplayer)
  • Perhaps alter national flags? I can see that one being particularly difficult, though.
I'd also appreciate greater control over editable text fields. Currently, I can't click to move the caret; I have to use arrow keys, and there is a frustrating delay after pressing an arrow key before the caret becomes visible again. Copying and pasting doesn't always (ever?) work, alt+numpad for special characters creates a character for every digit (though at least the intended character is also created at the end), lower case 'ø' appears as 'o' in some places, but correctly in others (I believe Trøndelag is a vanilla example), and there are plenty of characters that don't seem to work at all, such as 'š' and 'č'. I understand that there might be technical issues that prevent these from being fixed, but any little change would be very welcome.

I hope I'm not coming across as entitled or demanding. Most of these are probably niche features, and I completely understand if they're too low on the priority list to look at. I'd be more than happy if just one of these things were to be changed. Hell, I'll be happy just to have someone read all this.

Rename characters: Only new heirs, generals and advisors and new republican rulers.
Rename seazones: Yes i would like that too.
Change your own map color: Yes could be nice.
Change national flag: It should be possible but only if you have rebels that actually wants to change it, revolutionary rebels and noble rebels. (Maybe religious)

The rest i would not like.

The thing is, though, if you don't personally want to do the other things, that's fine, but why not have them in the game for those that would like them? I'd be using these to create a more detailed and immersive world, but if someone else wanted, say, to rename a rival country 'Stupidland', why not let them?

All could be fun, but these are the more important ones IMO.
I think so too. Some cultures have extremely small name pools, making all the advisors and generals seem like relatives of each other. Even in this time period, nepotism wasn't that pervasive. And for the map colours, it's a pretty big quality-of-life improvement. It's not uncommon to see Spain and Scotland each colonise large parts of the Americas, leading to a very awkward political map. And if I'm playing a game with custom nations, and the colour I pick for mine happens to be the same as the colour of nations around me, I'm going to want to do something about that.

It is probly fine to have it in the game, but i would not like the developers to spend their time on this there is alot other things they better could use their time on to improve the game.... But if they had nothing to do at all they could probly put this in.

But i would like any modder to mod this, that could be a nice mod. :)

Especially if it was Ironman compatible

/dare to dream

The problem with renaming dynasties though, is that it'll either rename all current dynasties with that name on all thrones, or you get a one way ticket out of PUs. Would love it if I could NAME a dynasty that takes power when the "Random YOURNATION noble succeeds to the throne" thing happens.
