Be nice. :D

I'll let podcat answer from his AHD Q&A session thread.

Its faster, at least late game because of multicore and other optimizations. Early years you might not notice a huge difference compared to vanilla early game though because there is also a lot more new code run that eats CPU.

Also
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?597521-AHD-multy-core-support&highlight=multicore
it uses multiple cores. as whether its faster or not than vanilla it depends on what is going on in the game. There is a lot more mechanics being simulated in AHD that didnt have to be computed in vanilla. overall its something like a 20-100% speedup at least depending on what is going on when multiple cores are used.

So the game does support multiple cores. No word on multithread support that I can find.

*Crisis mechanisms (HOD)
This was a cheap rip-off of the system used in AGEOD's Pride of Nations and it's a gamey mechanic. I mean, you can't colonize during a "crisis war"? Why not? Oh look, the Netherlands just colonized all of Africa while the rest of Europe was busy. It is bizarre and unrealistic and hugely exploitable. If you are a strong power then you can continually abuse the crisis system to rip the Ottoman empire apart simply by offering peace before any other powers join the crisis.
