List of religions was added on first post. You can now vote for each religion if you want it to split, or want to add.

Note for those who suggested a real poll: Only moderator can create a poll. As you can see, there are many ideas and each of them needs separate poll. New ideas are added during the time and it will need new and new polls. This poll is very dynamic and it would be very difficult to manage real poll.

Note for those who didn't vote yet: I'm recommending to vote now, when there are not so much ideas. In later time it will be very boring to vote for 50-70 ideas at once for example. I agree that real poll where you can easy click on your choice would be better, but Great Vote Thread is very dynamic and it would be hard to manage real poll.

I think you may need to rephrase or add another section to religions because "split more than suggested" implies that there should be all those branches plus more.

Ch'n and Zen are essentially the same. And they are technically branches of Mahayana.

Exactly. I had to define some barriers, so I didn't place there ability "other than suggested". On the other hand I am giving an option to say if somebody want to split some religion really much.

Well...they're branches like Calvanism is to Protestantism.

However they all are very similar to one another. Ch'n is the original and what the others are based off of, but Zen is the more widely known to westerners.

But that is wrong, Ch'an/Zen is a form of Mahayana Buddhism but it is not Mahayana Buddhism, just like Lutheranism is a form of protestantism, but then so are Baptists, Calvinists and Anabaptists. but you wouldn't say Lutheranism is Protestantism, unless you were being extremely general and sloppy and also claiming anabaptists and Calvinists were not Protestant.

For example Tibetan Buddhism, aka Lamaism, is by no means Ch'an Buddhism but they are both Mahayana.

While Ch'an is sort of compatible with say the Pure Land sect of Mahayana, the most popular school of Mahayana Buddhism in China, it is really different in practice. personally I think Mahayana and Theraveda are more than enough categories for Buddhism at the EU3 level, but if say it was a game about just Japan, dividing up Mahayana would be a good idea. But as most Mahayana Buddhists in China, Korea, Japan mix them all up. Tibetans and
Mongolians for example don't really do this. All are Mahayana Buddhists however.
