I'm playing a Single Player Italy game which I enjoy a lot and want to tell you about it.

I feel you have usually 1 big challenge and when you win it, it's easy mode, or when you lose it it's over. Not in this game.
I'm now in the 5th challenging situation that is winable and not boring.

Gameplan was:
  • Dont join Axis (or any other faction)
  • Selflimit: only 20width Tanks, no cheesing
  • Grab Yugo in 1938
  • Declare on Greece to get Greece and go to war with UK
  • Grab Egypt
  • Dominate Med-Sea
  • Hold in Africa next to (puppeted) Ethiopia
  • When Germany is in the middle of Barbarossa (around early 1942) attack them
I had 3 suprise (at least for me) declarations of war against me until then. Together with them the war on Yugo was the first challenge. (It's esay but not too easy if you do it early.)
2nd challenge was the war against Germany. (I attacked through eastern Austria)
3rd challenge was still beeing at war with the Allies after the peace conference. I had to take France again full of US troops and without beeing able to challenge the Allied air superiority.
4th challenge: War against the Soviet Union that has won against Germany and has dozens of puppet states everywhere (e.g. soviet occitania and something in Syria) It was hard to have enough Infantry to cover all borders while still holding in Ethiopia and Morocco against the Allies and maintaining a full D-Day defense

Now it's September 1943 and the war against the Soviet Union going well, but the Allies managed to land in Brittany.
I thought, ok no problem I left 4 Tanks, push them back into the sea. But they brought Divisions that can pierce me (63 piercing, my 20w Mediums have 58 Armor at best, but I still have a lot Medium2s so it's more 45ish)
And they cracked my cipher and have absolute air superiority. So I think I will have to deal with that D-Day for longer...

My plan now should be, I think:
  • Divert troops from the Soviet Union back to France.
  • Risk slowing down in the East a bit to get control in the West
  • I have 10k planes, UK and US have a lot more. Maybe 20k I think to tackle that I have to attack the Oil supply to the UK. (Which I havent done yet... Hmmm)
  • My Navy is not too bad (slapped UK fleets in the Med in 1939) but all 1936 Tier because I had other things to do and didnt bother to modernize it.
  • I think I'll go surface raiding in the Atlantic. (Do I have enough Oil for that? I dont know...)
Anyways, that's the 5th challenge. It's still not boring in late 1943, I think I can win, but it wont be easy...
