Living in the grassy landscapes of the north, the Molakha tribe's chief decided to write history, his great martial skill combined with his ambitions would prove motivation enough.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-26 um 14.36.10.png

The Orestai people, of which the Molakha are a part, would set out into the unknown world and carve a place out of their own. For that however, the tribes has to grow strong.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-26 um 15.29.41.png

Soon, under Galestus' leadership, would the neighbouring plains be captured. The able-bodied who could serve in the campaigns had doubled! Aided by two faithful allies, Herakleion and Tymphenios, our success is assured by the gods!
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-26 um 17.16.13.png

18 years after the chief decided on the path of his people, the Molakha tribe began the true preparations for the great migration. Everyone should be able to hunt, everyone had to have a bow. More and more support the chief now in his path of glory, their eyes ablaze with faith.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-26 um 17.41.05.png

Seven years later and the entire region cam under Molakha's control, no one dares to resist for long, for they know Galestus is righteous! May the gods bless Molakha's journey.

First of all, you're on an old version of the game, right? Since the Bronze Age mod got moved to CK3?

Second, what's the ultimate goal? Form a civilized state in Greece?

No, the Bronze Age Reborn just got an update a week or so ago (I did most of it lol). It has been kept alive and ported to 2.0 shortly before Imperator got announced to be paused.
The goal of our current campaign is to migrate to Caria (it is in Anatolia). Part of the most recent update has been a handful of formables that function very similarly to EU4's colonial formables in that you abandon all the old world lands.

Edit: Since the CK3 version of BA got announced to be halted, Snowlet (who is alos responisble for the IR BA mod) has also decided to take over the CK3 BA mod. They are now on the same discord server.

In 810 Molakha was finishing his last conquests in Greece before the first expedition would be sent east to a land he saw in a dream. Zeus himself promised him he and his people would rule this foreign land until the end of times.
Skärmbild (1041).png

Just six years later the first expedition in asia found a land to call home.
Skärmbild (1042).png

The natives of this land were not happy with the greeks coming from across the sea and war soon broke out.
Skärmbild (1043).png

The hellenic armies proved stronger and subjugated the natives.
Skärmbild (1044).png

14 years after his visions Molakha had conquered a good chunk of the coast of southwestern Anatolia.
Skärmbild (1045).png

And just a year later the proto greeks would form a continuous state.
Skärmbild (1046).png

Rhodes would soon be added to the growing greek power.
Skärmbild (1047).png
Skärmbild (1048).png

A invasion of the powerfull Willapran state to the east would prove his last foreign threat.
Skärmbild (1049).png

This would turn Molakha's tribe into a true major power of the era.
Skärmbild (1050).png
Skärmbild (1051).png
Skärmbild (1052).png
Skärmbild (1053).png

Molakha's tribe would soon split in two and the newly acquired anatolian holdings would hence be known as Caria.
Skärmbild (1054).png

Molakha's vision had proved true.
Skärmbild (1055).png

The old homeland would be ruled by a young chief and only fate knew what his destiny would be.
Skärmbild (1056).png

Caria was the 10th most populous known state of the period.
Skärmbild (1057).png

Constant civil strife would have weakened Caria some five years later and the future looked to be full of more such strife, Caria still stood strong even when the natives tried to overthrow the hellenic hierarchy.
Skärmbild (1058).png
Skärmbild (1059).png

Important:

Due to a bug it seems like out old tag kept lands in anatolia when I formed Caria, this was confirmed to be a bug to me so i fixed this by opening the game in debug mode and giving these territories to Caria. Just wanted to be open about this.
Skärmbild (1060).png
Skärmbild (1061).png
Skärmbild (1062).png

Around 1/8 of Carias population was hellenic with the vast majority being anatolian. This would prove to be a challanging task for years to come.
Skärmbild (1065).png
Skärmbild (1066).png

Carias capital was in Amos currently.
Skärmbild (1067).png

Cretan aggressive expansion was infamous in the region at this point.
Skärmbild (1068).png

This was it for my 25 years. We ended with none of the territories we started with and we are very volatile currently but Caria got alot of potential in the mid-long term once the initial situation stabalizes. Atleast the coffers are full and none of our neighboors threaten us militarily.

Caria has formed as a state. How much civilizing needs to happen now?

Let's hope that the other members of our tribe don't gets any ideas about conquest of their own...

jijijij

The aggressive tribal chief Wadukhaserwos Galestus has recently conquered the lands in Karkisa, Maiandros, Salbake and Sporades. He has severed ties with the Molakha nation and founded his own nation of Caria.

The families that have followed Wadukhaserwos are the Khabbashid, Philothid, Ahmid and his own Galestid family. However, the Galestid is not the most prestigious family in Caria, the Philothid are more numerous and prestigious and this maybe a problem in the future.

1672168346910.png

The head of the Philothid family, Awistodotos, is the governor of Sporades but he is immensely corrupt. Wadukhaserwos cannot bring him to trial but he will replace him with a member of the Galestus family, Metanor. With the same idea, the governor of Salbake, Leprios from the Khabbash family, is remplaced with Philowergos Galestus. All governors are from the Galestus family, increasing its prestige among all other families.

1672168515931.png
1672168862932.png

Next, Wadukhasweros gets all his close family members married and so he marries Kleio Galestid and so many other members are married that year.

1672170314509.png

In the new conquered lands, Wadukhaserwos decides to stop slave promotion in the lands where he can build plantations , logging camps or mines . He wants to increase the production of trade goods by slaves.

1672169952234.png
1672169974907.png
1672170026245.png

Wadukhasweros has decided that it is time to settle down and takes the decision to become a tribal chiefdom, he sees the future in the new land for his family and descendants for many generations. Changes like this come with high price as the nation is not prepared to settle and many Orestae are ready to migrate for new conquests.

1672170745785.png

Wadukhasweros knows his people and starts integrating the Telchines and Leleges population as they are majoritarian in these regions and more in favour for settled civilized life.

1672171065602.png

The nation is in turmoil as all these changes are creating a lot of unhappiness. Moreover, the Eleutherna nation has declared their interest in Kos, just right in front of our new capital Erdorati in Amos. It is time to make our fleet bigger as this war will be mainly a maritime one.

1672171960017.png
1672172048700.png

1672172578044.png

Meanwhile, the province of Lindos where the first nautikon is building up, is almost in full rebellion. A group of mercenaries is hired to quell the rebellion whenever it happens. The Patarathe's mercenaries have the powerful spearmen in the first row and archers with high manouver in the flanks. The skirmishers are on the second line to avoid facing the rebel army.

1672172817435.png

And the rebellion starts soon enough, but the mercenaries are ready to act as Wadukhasweros was advised. The Rebellion does not last long but the news from a sudden dementia affecting Wadukhaserwos breaks the celebrations. It is time to prepare for a clan chiefs succession, making the dream of a powerful and prestigious Galestid family more difficult.

1672173170360.png

1672173451956.png

Wadukhaserwos dies and a new clan chief is in power, Iwasos Philothid is in power, he was the corrupt and powerful governor that was replaced by Wadukhaserwos. The Philothid family is very prestigious and more numerous than the Galestid. Will Iwasos continue the plans of the Galestid family? A settled tribe is a way to get more power and money for a family and the Philothid is very ambitious.

1672174539493.png
1672174759874.png

Before having any idea about the future of the family, Iwasos will have to fight the rebellions in Caria they are everywhere and it seems they will never end.

1672174972456.png

The best legate for Iwasos is the integration of the Telchines and Leleges people, the nation of Caria is more powerful now. Also the aggressive expansion accrued with the aggressive Wadukhasweros is fading down slowly.

1672175079689.png
1672175127524.png

Yet again, the clan chief of Caria is arriving to his last days, this time is a gout that is killing away Iwasos. Caria is stable but rebellions are still strong in the country. A move to central urban spaces has been done to ease the tensions in the provinces but more civilization efforts are needed to achieve peace in our lands. The best shot is to increase centralization and promote tribesmen but this is going painfully slow.

1672178896140.png
1672178954928.png
1672179027342.png

20 years after the anniversary of the settling our tribe, the Philothid family wins the Galestid family to establish the first kingdom of Caria. However, the tribal chiefs aren't yet convinced to allow a dinasty to rule the Orestae people. The Galesid family still has a shot.

In 885 King Ekhanor ruled Caria with an iron fist, his country was tearing itself apart and a strong man was needed to keep it together.
Skärmbild (1071).png

A rebellion was put down the same year.
Skärmbild (1072).png

A survey of the population told us that 16% of the population or 119 pops were of our primary culture.
Skärmbild (1073).png

While 66% or 498 pops were our primary religion.
Skärmbild (1074).png

Sensing weakness to his east the wise king invaded the mountain tribes in 886.
Skärmbild (1075).png
Skärmbild (1076).png
Skärmbild (1077).png

While they never were subjugated fully important areas were taken for Caria.
Skärmbild (1078).png

Even when the country was victorious abroad it still had internal issues.
Skärmbild (1079).png
Skärmbild (1080).png

Skärmbild (1082).png

In 892 our founder was deified as a god.
Skärmbild (1083).png
Skärmbild (1084).png

More hellenic settlers arrived from greece.
Skärmbild (1085).png

More rebellions. Notice my 66 stability, it barely helps.
Skärmbild (1086).png
Skärmbild (1087).png

An oppurtunistic war to the north.
Skärmbild (1088).png

The king is dead long live the king.
Skärmbild (1089).png
Skärmbild (1090).png

Another war with the mountain peoples to the east was carried out by the young king.
Skärmbild (1093).png

Rebellions did not stop mid war.
Skärmbild (1094).png

Eventually almost all lands were taken in the mountain war.
Skärmbild (1095).png
Skärmbild (1096).png

Eventually the rebellions were put down too.
Skärmbild (1097).png
Skärmbild (1098).png

But more rebellions just sprung up.
Skärmbild (1100).png
Skärmbild (1101).png
Skärmbild (1102).png
Skärmbild (1103).png
Skärmbild (1104).png

Eventually in 910 Caria had grown some but was basically in the same position it was in 25 years ago.
Skärmbild (1105).png

To our north the powerfull Wallawattan people formed a large kingdom that threatened Caria.
Skärmbild (1106).png

While to the east the Anarawa kingdom did the same.
Skärmbild (1107).png

The Asita kingdom were staunch allies and helper secure our eastern flank atleast.
Skärmbild (1108).png

To the north Troas could be used asa countermweight to the Wallawattan kingdom if needed.
Skärmbild (1109).png

While the number of practitioners went from 498 to 730 there was a drop in the percentage of true belivers from 66% to 61%.
Skärmbild (1110).png

Atleast our primary culture grew from 119 ro 230 and went from 16% to 19% of our population.
Skärmbild (1111).png

We are wealthy and got no ae and high stabiliy but with a ticking civil war (could be solved by giving a holding) and a bunch of rebellious provinces the future still looks uncertain.

After many tribulations, it has been the Kabbash family that has established the first dinasty in CARIA. Their prestige now superior to the Philothid family and of course the Galestid family that now is behind even the Ahmid family. Amphiwastos Galestus marriage proposal refusal is reducing much of the prestige for the Galestid family.

1672258310568.png

1672258461280.png

The time for the Galestid family may came in the future but now they are at risk to lose their position in the aristocracy of CARIA.

On the other hand, Aetas I Khabbash is going to move forward with bold decisions to make CARIA finally a stable kingdom and get rid of all rebellions. First decesion is to exempt from census tax the citizens and nobles of CARIA, right of Appeal and protected land rights for the Orestae . For the Leleges culture Aetas starts patronizing their culture and creates an honor guard. For all other cultures, he is reducing taxes to all CARIA

1672259198979.png

1672259494612.png

1672259680190.png

1672258995335.png

But all these changes came with a price. All other cultures are demoted to slaves. Aetas does not support rebellions and he is very adamant to reduce all the political power of the population that is not Orestae or Leleges, they will become slaves and have no say in the nation of CARIA.

The policies enacted by Aetas are giving fruits, after three rebellions, there are no more but a rumour of discontent in some provinces.

1672262556095.png

At the height of his reign, Aetas has pacified CARIAS, and only Ute remains rebellious. He is very proud and wise at the age of 48. The next years are open for further enslavement of other cultures for the great dream of a great CARIAS.

1672268514025.png

1672268600307.png

CARIA is only second to Ta-Mehu in regard of their population esteem, technology is advancing for the first time in this kingdom, and some civilization advances have been made. As a regional power CARIA now is comfortable, but the lure to get to major power is strong for the ambitious young king. Nations like the famous Assyria, Ugarit, Ur, Mari or Ta-Mehu are leading the Bronze Age.

The experienced king saw a weakness in his neighbour to th east, so he pounced.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 11.01.33.png

While he didn't conquer much, he secured a vital pass that connected two parts of his realm faster and closer than the ones already controlled. Soon after however, he decided that warfare was a much-needed focus for his realm, so that it could defend itself well. The priests wanted the relam be a devout servant to the gods, but were, in the end, convinced that with all the heathens around, the gods would be better served with a sword than with the word.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 11.23.58.png

For a while already had the king thought that his current capital city wasn't quite the right choice. The hills around certainly aided in it's defense, yet wasn't a capital not supposed to never get attacked in the first place? Also, with his plans to conquer some of the territories to our north, he sensed that the location of the new city should be further north. So he ordered the building of a new city, well-placed in the middle of his realm, yet on the coast for good trade and the easy reception of foreign dignitaries. The king was even more enjyoed when he was told that the people of the area knew how to make rare and valuable dyes...
Soon after, new organisational structures allowed the army to create something beautiful: the standing army, a Legion!
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 11.30.23.png

Before he could found his new capital, he had to secure it's future border some more. The long-desired lands to the north were finally acquired, even though much blood was spilled and despite the enemy managing to sneak an army into our heartland. (sadly no pic, I forgot; visible in the "beauty shots" at the end))
It still needed some inculation of the right ways, but that would surely be an easy task. Said and done! Voilà, the new capital of the glorious Carian Realm.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 12.13.56.png

South of the famous city of Apasa (Ephesos), Amro was central in our realm and the entirety of Anatolia. It's terrain is well-suited for a great city, for the farmers won't find better terrian to feed the city in miles!
As he got older, the king mused over his predecessors of the tribe that came to these foreign lands and to make them ours. Especially the old, godly cief, Galestus, was in his mind. It is a shame he has no great temple dedicated to him... I shall change that! In his old capital Erdorati, the city of Galestus' choice, he shall have a great temple, greater than anything before!
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 12.32.00.png

Soon, my turn was over and I couldn't help but get excited at seeing the culture and religious map-modes getting light blue.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 12.41.59.png

Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-29 um 12.42.04.png

And here in the final picture, our glorious realm in it's entirety, the legion drilling in the capital.

At the start of my session over three quarters of Caria was proto-hellenic.
Skärmbild (1112).png

almost four tenths of the population was also a proto hellenic culture.
Skärmbild (1113).png

Deciding to flex Carias muscles some i went after a easy target just outside of the anatolian coast.
Skärmbild (1114).png

Thera did not like Carias aggressive expansion and tried to put a stop to us.
Skärmbild (1115).png

In the end both wars would be won by Caria and Thera would lose Thera itself.
Skärmbild (1116).png
Skärmbild (1117).png

Not long after the war of Theran aggression out king died and Ekhanor took over.
Skärmbild (1118).png
Skärmbild (1119).png

Wkhanor decided to do some minor expansion himself.
Skärmbild (1120).png
Skärmbild (1121).png

After a minor war against local tribes Ekhanor decided to invade the decently strong Wallawatta kingdom.
Skärmbild (1122).png

After a crushing first battle Caria would dominate for the rest of the war.
Skärmbild (1123).png

Not wanting to expand too fast Ekhanor decided to only take half of his northern neighboors land. What a nice guy.
Skärmbild (1124).png

Hellenic culture was the glue that held Caria togheter and distinguished Caria from the barbarians arround it.
Skärmbild (1125).png
Skärmbild (1126).png

Minor rebellions sprung up all across Caria.
Skärmbild (1127).png

Thera would even support aegean revolts against us.
Skärmbild (1128).png

This would lead to Thera losing even more land to Caria.
Skärmbild (1129).png

More minor revolts.
Skärmbild (1130).png

A government policy to heavily assimilate the barbarians started in 973.
Skärmbild (1131).png

In 976 Ekhanor Decided to finish the Wallawatta kingdom for good.
Skärmbild (1132).png

During this chaos Minoa declared war on Caria.
Skärmbild (1133).png

Eventually the minoans were peaced out so that caria could focus on the Wallawatta kingdom.
Skärmbild (1134).png

In 978 the once mighty Wallawatta kingdom now was a mere province in Caria.
Skärmbild (1135).png

Ekhanor would spend the next few years crushing rebellions but otherwise avoiding war.
Skärmbild (1136).png

A new god was deified in the Carian pantheon.
Skärmbild (1137).png

The bronze age fully started in Caria in the 980s before this point mostly copper tools are weapons had been used.
Skärmbild (1139).png

Caria had a slow technological start with them having been a backwater european tribe for quite some time but they finally caught up to the world around them.
Skärmbild (1140).png

In 985 Caria was the clear dominant power in Asia minor.
Skärmbild (1141).png

In 25 years the number of belivers went from 1422 to 2307 even if the proportional amount of belivers went from 76% to 67%.
Skärmbild (1142).png

A simualar thing happened with our primary culture. It grew from 711 to 1133 pops but went from 38% to 33% of our total population.
Skärmbild (1143).png

Both of these increases can be seen on the cultural and religious map.
Skärmbild (1144).png
Skärmbild (1145).png

And finally a comparisson on Caria in 960 to 985. the population grew from 1862 to 3422 a increase of over 80%! The number of territories grew from 233 to 372 (59% increase) which explains the majority of this increase but natural population growth also played a part.
Skärmbild (1146).png
Skärmbild (1141).png

Caria in 985 is left in a pretty decent state. Alot of pops that adhere to different faiths and belong to different cultures sure but Caria is stable.

Caria has become a stable kingdom and expanded across Anatolia. However, rebellions are still common (incidentally, I completely sympathize with this. It's a problem in my games as well)

Is Troas meant to be Troy?

It seems like a new culture and religion is emerging. Is the deification mechanic unique to the mod, or did I just not notice it while playing vanilla?

Deification is one of two mechanics specific to a DLC (the other being Building Wonders), namely Magna Graecia. Yes, Troas is the region.

CARIA being a major power is not the same as being accepted as one. Military power is key to have the respect of other major powers and CARIA is severely lacking in this matter. CARIA's taxawis is composed of archers, axemen and skirmishers. From those units, the only one that is up to the task is the axemen, the others are only cheap units to fill in the ranks of CARIA's army.

1672418822935.png
1672418838658.png
1672418858419.png

The reason for having weak units is the pauper CARIA's economy. To increase the number and quality of units, the proto-greek kingdom has to pay them more money that is currently making. The best units CARIA could have are the heavy chariots but they cost almost double than the axemen. The best unit against heavy chariots are spearmen but every unit of spearmen costs 1.5x an axemen unit.

1672419574726.png

Ekhanor II Khabbash has cancer and his successor, Philiotos Khabbas is also affected by dysenery and poor health. The ruling elite has shown no interest in the military nor the economy matters of CARIA.

Only a change on the Marshal position or the Master of the Guard can change the course of the military. On the economy side, a new Steward has been appointed, his name Eumetas Galestus. He is going to try improve the economy of CARIA. Coming from the Galestid family, he is good natured but his approach is harsh, sometimes cruel or uncaring at matters of money.

1672421508757.png

His first decree is to destroy all the fortress in the kingdom, they are too heavy on the treasure and they are not needed. CARIA is on offensive nation, it does not need a defensive line of fortress. Second, he makes sure that all provinces are importing and exporting all the trade goods possible. For the export side, he will invest in workshops for cities and gradually move slaves in the settlements that have plantations, logging camps and mines. The difference betwen before and after him taking office is night and day:

1672420766721.png
1672421380710.png

Next thing Eumetas wants to do is the foundation of trade cities that increase trade under the control of CARIA. The recent conquest in Thera would make the perfect location for this trade centers:

1672421631111.png

An opportunity to start reforming the military rises when Hoplomenos Galestus becomes the Head of the family Galestid. He was a governor of Lelegia but now he can take on the position of the Master of The Guard. He will start as soon as possible the works to have the best legion possible for CARIA. He counts on Eumetas Galestus reforms to have the money to pay for it.

1672425701161.png

The only problem is Okus Philotid the current Marshal, he is opposing any change to the armies. Luckly Hoplomenos is in charge of the taxawis of CARIA, as this is the personal bodyguard of the king.

Sadly Hoplomenos dies soon after at his post. Eumetas becomes the head of the family Galestid and there is not a suitable candidate from the family to replace Hoplomenos. The job goes to Agetas Ahmid, from the Ahmid family. The reform of the first taxawis will have to wait.

Once again, an opportunity comes for the Galestid family. The Grand Marshall Job is open when Okus Philotid dies of old age. Ulmi-Tesub Galestus gets the job and starts right away to change the composition of the Taxawis of CARIA.

1672429430039.png

The first taxawis consists of the best units we know in this age, heavy chariots, spearmen and axemen. They will have to be shuffled by the general when facing different armies composition, but they are elite units

1672429936823.png

Tragic news, Eumetas Galestid has died, his economic reforms have transformed CARIA treasury and its military with the recent reforms of the 1st Taxawis. He will be remembered in the hearts and minds of the CARIAN people as he brought prosperity and security.

1672430228728.png

The CARIAN King also died four years later than Eumetas. It has been a golden age for CARIA, no wars except some rebellions in the territories recently occupied and Kerlaines I Khabbash started a great wonder in honour of our founder, no other than Wadukhaserwos, from the Galestid family! The Lighthouse in Amro will welcome the proto hellenics like when the Orestae people came here to settle for the first time.

The King Lawodokos decided to honour his godly predecessor, Iwasos, by building him a shrine in the capital. The old one had already been dedicated to Wadukhaserwos, he who lead our people here. Iwasos established our firm rule after Wadukhaserwos' passing.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-30 um 23.13.39.png

Soon, however, the courts' politicking forced the exalted King to make a choice: should only males be allowed to inherit, or should the bloodline take precedence? For the king only had daughters - may all 4 be blessed - but no male heir. When his beloved wife began pressuring him, he couldn't say no to her, and thus, his oldest daughter would be allowed to succeed him - but only if he was not to sire a son in the meantime.
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-30 um 23.36.57.png

After a small excursion north and a small campaign south-east, King Lawodokos continued with his previous policies of peace and trade, preferring to build rather than to destroy. And so it came, that after the Guiding Light of Wadukhaserwos, personified as a Lighthouse, he also built a tomb for Wadukhaserwos, made entirely of silver so white and bright it would be cleanest part of his chosen capital, Erdorati. And while it cost a pretty penny, it was surely all worth it...
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-31 um 01.18.15.png

As was his policy in his younger years, Lawodokos continued to imrpove his military, for only a strong nation would deter hyenas and allow for free development.
He could be proud of what he achieved...
Bildschirmfoto 2022-12-31 um 01.27.02.png

Over 3/4 of his realm were true believers and almost 6/10 lived the right way - it seemed that the Gods were on his and Carias side and nothing would stop them from becoming as close to divinity as possible...

IN 1035 some northern states were in open rebellion against Caria.

Apames reign would be the turning point of Caria going from a major power to a true great power.
Skärmbild (1151).png

A trojan war was also on Apames mind, she wished to chase them out of Asia.

At the same time expansion into the interior of anatolia was slowly carried out.

CARIA has become a great power with more than 700 territories, the management of this empire is a daunting task that employs most of the members of the five great families in CARIA. Among them, our cherished Galestid family has improved its standing in the kingdom and its prestige rivals the ruling Ahmid family. Even the old Philothid family has more prestige than the queen's family.

1672684364487.png

With both families having the same prestige than the Ahmid, they demand Queen Apame to change the succession law to elective. Changing the law does not seem to favour the Galestid family, that has not enough succession support. Again the Ahmid family has the most support for the succession with the primary heir and being member of the Ahmid family still carrying a weight in CARIA. Nevertheless, Aetas Galestus, the Master of the Guard, has faith in Eumetas Galestus, the current governor of Warmala, to have an opportunity to the throne. With 18 years oldm he is still young.

1672684739067.png

1672685025800.png

The spring of the new year comes with changes in the succession support, the ailing queen Apame is shocked to see that her relative, Pihinakki, is no more the preferred successor to the throne of CARIA. It is Aithaios Khabbash, the governor of Sporades, who has the most supports. More than 70 years have passed since the last king from the Khabbashid family, Kerlainos. When he died the Ahmid family rose to power in CARIA by obscure means. This time around, the Khabbashid family is leveraging its prestige of more than 100 years ruling CARIA.

1672685770845.png

1672686183579.png

Meanwhile, Apame's hubris has grown so big that she starts a new wonder in CARIA naming it after herself. The Ahmid family has been 62 years in the throne and Apame more than half of this period. She styles herself as a demigoddess and her dream is that her successors make her a divinity in the Carian Pantheon, next to Wadukhaserwos and Iwasos.

1672686424225.png

With a striking turn of events, Pihinakki has rebelled against Apame. He thinks Apame took a bad decision when changed the law that was giving him the kingdom and wants to depose her to change the law again. Apame does not bends and takes swift action against Pihiniakki. He is imprisoned and lose his legate position. After the coup, the powers of CARIA change their preference for Euporos Philothid, Governor of South Lukka. He is seen more just and plain-speaking than Aithaios, a man of harsh manners.

1672686734862.png

1672687170606.png

Sadly, Euporos dies soon after being given the support of the nobles of CARIA. Once more, the self-controlled and secure Aithaios Khabbash is the best candidate to succeed Apame. Good news for the Galestid family, Eumetas Galestus is already the third more valued candidate at only 18 years old. He has a bright future indeed.

1672687319375.png

1672687629037.png

Apame is ailing, she is nearing her death due to gout and a depression. She has been a fantastic queen and although she has now very low legitimacy and a big self-importance, she is bringing CARIA forward to the future when she consolidated the status of Great Power for CARIA and by changing the succession laws to elective.

She is able to celebrate the ignauguration of the temple of Wadukhaserwos in her last days. One month before she died she said to her nearest friends that her depression was gone. Apame dies happy and quietly in her Palace.

1672689040728.png

1672689400022.png

Aithaiois I Khabbash is the new king of CARIA. The Khabbash family is again ruling CARIA and his first decree is to invest in the country. He wants to fund more professional armies for CARIA and for that he needs the funds. Workshops are built in all the cities possible to increase the production of trade goods.

1672690310735.png

1672690447782.png

Who is the next candidate to lead CARIA? Alxanor of 71 years old has the majority of supporters to succed Aithaios of 74 years old. It seems we are stucked with old men. But Opheltas Galestus, at 26 years old, is at very good standing in case the old men die. Something that happens soon after, the king is dead, long live to the new king Alxanor I! Sadly, he is near death and won't live long. Opheltas will not succeed him, the strong Lawoguhomos is better positioned for the job. A new king is in CARIA before a year passes. Lawoguhomos is at perfect health, albeit at 67 years old he will not be more than 10 years in the job. Will be finally the moment for the Galestid family to come back to power after 300 years since Wadukhaserwos Galestus rose to Tribal Chief? The situation isn't good for Opheltas. Two other candidates are better positioned as they are older than him. It seems his 29 years are a problem for the principal families to support him for the throne.

1672691023203.png

1672691936394.png

1672692216500.png

Meanwhile CARIA was occupied with succession disputes, the world was evolving. The long lasting power of Peloponnesos, an Aegean nation of the Argives people, is destroying the shrines of the proto-hellenics in Khalkidike. The nation of CARIA has not said anything, but the old families feel the need to protect the tribes that are living in the ancient lands of the Oerestae people.

1672693319327.png

Diplomacy against the Agean nations has started and contacts with the proto-hellenic tribes as well. They are no allied to the Great Power of CARIA but the kings will protect them as tribal vassals. CARIA has acquired three tribal vassals in the region of Khalkidike to stop Peloponnesos destroying the proto-hellenic shrines. CARIA also has guaranteed Petranoi, the migratory chiefdom in Orestis. However, the surprise comes when the emissaries frrom Petranoi bring news that Petranoi is allied to our sworn enemy and defiler of the proto-hellenic shrines, Peloponnesos! This unholly alliance should not stand, the land of our ancestors should be liberated from the Agean rule!

Whilst the king wanted to save the few remaining brethren in Hellas, he recognised that he needed a strong fleet to carry his troops over the great and salty lake. To support the added expense, he satarted to build palaces, workshops and many, many ports and shipyards in his realm. Time didn't pressure after all, since there were only a few remaining in the old homeland, and those either were in the care of our protectorate or vassalised, the majority enslaved or killed, salvation already too late for them.
Bildschirmfoto 2023-01-03 um 11.17.31.png

Soon, there would be more sailors for the fleet!
Desiring to have the gods on his side, our king wanted to be recognised as the representative of the gods on this side of existence. However, he needed more support (popularity), so he decided to demonstrate his strength in the east: in Pamphylia, he would conquer more of the coastline, to build more ships. Soon, the spoils of war made him a popular man and finally there was no opposition to his declaration of divinity on earth.

A great pyramid fell into our hands; what will we do with it? The king is undecided as of yet, for he doesn't feel it's location to be great. Inland, not even a city - which he promptly ordered constructed - and it all inhabited be heathens and foreigners.
To enable a swift movement of his troops, the king ordered a massive road network be built in his lands, so that no threat could overwhelm his forces and that his troops might assemble quickly, once the great war to reclaim the homeland was declared.
Bildschirmfoto 2023-01-03 um 12.18.29.png

Many great cities (Metropoli) have formed on the western coast of our lands, all awaiting the inevitable clash with the Pelasgians... the king felt that by the time the prparations were finished, he was too old to campaign. He would leave that honorable task to his successors. However, he had one success already before the war even started: the Petranoi people under his protection saw the errors of their ways and abandoned the alliance with our enemy...

In Karfas, on the Island of Chios, there has been a man who claimed to be guided by Iwasos, our divine predecessor. The man siad that he was instructed to build a large lighthouse on Chios to guide the ships to the old homeland. If the lighthouse were to be built, great boons would await us and the liberation unopposed.
Following in the advice of his divine predecessor, our King built the Lighthouse on Chios, in Karfas, the city where the man claimed to have been visited by Iwasos.

In 1110 Caria was one of five known great powers in the wider region. Caria started out as migrant hellenic tribesmen settling and becoming the greatest power that the aegean sea ever saw.
Skärmbild (1183).png

To fully hellenize the area it was decided that the leleges would have their privelages revoked. This way hellenic culture would stand undisputed in Caria.
Skärmbild (1184).png

The minoans would be invaded in 1110.
Skärmbild (1185).png

At the same time the Saranduwan kingdom would be invaded.
Skärmbild (1186).png

A disloyal naval commander made it hard to invade Crete but it would be solved eventually by him dying.
Skärmbild (1187).png

The eastward expansion would take two thirds of the once mighty kingdom.
Skärmbild (1188).png

Meanwhile the minoans had a civil war and the revolt was peaced out.
Skärmbild (1189).png

In 1113 Troy was invaded, they have been very resilient so far but everything got a breakingpoint.
Skärmbild (1190).png

Minor independent powers near Troy was also invaded.
Skärmbild (1191).png
Skärmbild (1192).png

Carian diplomacy in 1113.
Skärmbild (1193).png

A good chunk of Crete would be taken from the minoans.
Skärmbild (1194).png

The eastward expansion did not stop just because expansion happened westward.
Skärmbild (1195).png

Our beloved king died and a new king was voted into power.
Skärmbild (1196).png

Juts a year later a third king sat on the throne.
Skärmbild (1197).png

Slowly all wars got finished and Caria grew and grew.
Skärmbild (1198).png

In 1116 Caria had conquered 150 cities in just 6 years.
Skärmbild (1199).png

The eastern luwians would be finished off in the 1120s.
Skärmbild (1200).png

As would troy.
Skärmbild (1201).png

Crete was invaded another time.
Skärmbild (1202).png

In 1122 troys long history would end.
Skärmbild (1203).png

Expansion into our formed tribal vassals was done not soon after troys fall.
Skärmbild (1204).png

In 1122 Carias eastern border reached the mighty Ugarit kingdom.
Skärmbild (1205).png

Crete slowly got conquered by the carians. The minoans could only await their fate.
Skärmbild (1206).png

Minor thracian tribes woudl be quelled together with the local greeks.
Skärmbild (1207).png

In 1125 Caria would crush the tribal greeks and uplift them into being proper civilized greeks.
Skärmbild (1208).png

The thracian tribes would surrender not long after.
Skärmbild (1209).png

A fourth king ascended to the throne in merely 17 years. This had an effect on carian stability.
Skärmbild (1210).png

In 1131 a last invasion on the minoans would be carried out.
Skärmbild (1211).png

Two years later in 1133 all of creete would belong to the carians. Caria now stood as undisputed masters of the aegean.
Skärmbild (1212).png

Around 330 cities had been subjugated in the last 25 years.
Skärmbild (1213).png

The orestae culture was spreadign rapidly and it reigned supreme in asia minor.
Skärmbild (1214).png

The proto hellenic religion was even more entrenched with 83% belivers.
Skärmbild (1215).png

Caria had surpassed Egypt as the most populous nation in the world even if the difference was small.
Skärmbild (1216).png

Egypt looked likely to bridge that gap soon with their invasion of Ugarit. If Ugarit falls then the number of great powers in the world will go from five to four.

Caria's expansion was swift, but I fear that dismantling the fortresses will prove to be an unwise move. If anyone manages to reach Caria itself, it will be difficult to defend.

I'm vaguely that the change to elective succession wasn't fought more, especially given how proud Apame was.

Will Caria intervene in the conflict between Egypt and Ugarit?
