Great Britain stealing trade. Gets tradepower from nowhere?

So, im playing Prussia and have a firm grip on the Lubeck tradenode where I have almost all of the tradepower except from Denmark with their Själland trade center. I have over 100% trade efficiency and have 50 light ships protecting it from Denmark. But some times, for a couple of years or months at a time Great Britain steers away half the trade to the English Channel with neither a Merchant nor any lightships present. For no obvious reason they get 1100 trade power multiplied with 1.27 for "Transfers from trader downstreams" and cut my trade income in half. WHY is that?

It's a bit odd, I own the entirety of the ivory coast and have portugal emgargoed and they STILL have the second-most power due to that (behind GB, since the embargo). I'm tempted to move my trade capital to tangiers just so I can get the same sort of bonus as them.
