Great Britain in the current setup in the game should never peace France. Lucky for anyone playing in Single player the AI is stupid and gives a lot of short peaces out. Due to the British navy under Nelson being massively better than the French navy they can just sit around moving Nelson and their ships of the line around for a year to get war exhaustion down.

At the Same time if France fights wars where she down right crushes lesser nations it will still slowly drag their war exhaustion up.

I feel the game needs to add some Continentalism mechanic so Great Britain doesn't stay at war with France for 10 years at a time with out more than a few Naval battles a year.

In my game France managed to occupy Ireland and later got half of it in a peace deal. Eastern part of Ireland is still french atm. However its true that Britain (+ Prussia very often) vs France is very similar to Austria vs Ottomans, long wars without much going on, a battle or occupation here and there but it drags on for years. At least landings arent uncommon, France and Spain in Ireland, Piedmont in Tunisia & southern italy or even Spain in Sweden! This helps to move things a bit and sometimes leads directly to huge land grab and peace follows.

Edit:
What IcratoX just wrote, Naval dominance goes away from Britain pretty easily, even Gibraltar didnt hold very long. Theres usually no naval dominant country in my game too. Land switches from France to Russia depending on what they own, but navy not.

Experiencing actually quite a bit the same, often France invades Ireland and takes a big portion of it in a peace deal with Great Britain. Also have had quite a few games where Great Britain lost it's naval dominance which made it very hard to join France in a coalition against Great Britain (as you can only set up coalitions against a dominant power). Not really a problem, but as GB loses it's Naval Dominance, I've had at least 1 game where half of the game there was no dominant naval power at all and it had a bit of a weird effect. Denmark called a coalition against France, and that was kind of the only big war happening as noone was able to call out a coalition against another power.

Personally I think it would be nice to have a bit more flexible coalitions, but not entirely sure how that'd work out.
