Question: I noticed in the AI thread that AH has a doublewide flag rather than half and half.
I'm guessing there are some sort of technical limitations about this, am I right?

I think what we are seeing is a illusion created by the particular setup of the AH flag. The flag of the lone division in Debrecen (top middle) looks okay however when bunched together with many divisions, say in Timisoara in the pic above (right middle), it appears that the flag is exceptionally long.

Also if you dont use counters your reserve infantry will look like motorized, guards like mech, light like paras, airships like planes, all of your planes will look like WWII models instead of WWI, etc.

Did you even ever play this game with sprites?

It's always this way - when there're many units stacked together their flags go to the side of each other, in this case creating an illusion of one large flag.
