Well, its indicative, though doesn't make much sense to me. Other than Linux we really don't have a choice when it comes to OS. So we're stuck with xp
Yes...but the word I should have typed was "using"...Mosheer Rommel said:Well, its indicative, though doesn't make much sense to me. Other than Linux we really don't have a choice when it comes to OS. So we're stuck with xp![]()
BeBro said:I have a very strange display, it's not in any way stretched like described in the OP, but full of weird colored pixels.
The funny thing is, I pressed "PrintScreen" to make a screenie, left the demo, and pasted the pic into my gfx software - but then it looked absolutely normal. The dmoe itself worked fine, although slow, but all screens (menu or map) had these display errors![]()
Is this due to my outdated hardware? I have a GForce FX 5600/256 MB, newest drivers and afaik it supports PXshader 2.0 But the rest of my system is ancient - 1GHz CPU/768 MB RAM.
I was aware to get problems running the game, but I thought it would be only a speed issue, not that the gfx are messed up...
Since I know nothing about these cards I have to ask;King said:However the GForce FX5200 card is right at the edge of the minimum requirements.

If you run the game in windowed mode it works.
I also have a FX5600.
Send your dxdiag to Mr.T by email and hopefully there will be a solution for our graphics card (although the solution might be; get a new one).
BeBro said:Thx, indeed the gfx errors are gone in windowed mode. But the game is next to unplayable then. Dunno if it's due to my slow comp in general, if windowed mode makes it worse, or if there are other issues esp. with GForce cards, like trajan thought.....

Could it work with GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X?
That's what I got.

"Failed to create a graphics device. Exiting."
Updated to latest drivers (should have been just before anyway). Intel GMA950 with 128 MB (can be up to 224) and fixes Pixel 2.0. 2 GB RAM in total. Fixes Aero in Vista with no problems. 1280 x 1024 60 is native resolution for my monitor.
If I look in the settings.txt it states:
}
graphics={
size={
x=1280
y=960
}
refreshRate=0
Tried to change it to:
}
graphics={
size={
x=1280
y=1024
}
refreshRate=60
but with same result. I have also tried to re-install EU3 Demo after upgrading drivers, and checked that settings.txt and register values was gone before it installed again. Still same effect. Any ideas?
I have the same card and I get the same error message!Ninski said:So i took the new settings u posted, Mr T, but it didn`t change anything, still: ... need 128 mb...

i`ll send u tomorow the dxdiag file

King said:I think I know what the problem is here. Your computer says that your Graphics card has 256 MB of memory. However, to the best of my knowledge, the X550 is either a 128Mb or (and I think your case probably) a 64MB. Then the graphics card uses a pretty neat trick to steal some of your on board RAM to increase its share of the RAM. This fools your computer but not EU3. We are currently working on a fix/work around for this problem.

All drivers is the lates:

Win XP pro
Thankful for help (so I know what's wrong when I buy the 'real' game ).

There is no graphics scaling in the demo (to turn down graphics effects for lower-end pcs). Will there be these options in the final version? Because frankly, the game is quite unplayable like this. Really sad, as it looks exquisite! Great job paradox.King said:Here at Paradox towers we have bought a GForce FX5200 card to test compatibility issues that have been reported. We have discovered that provided you have the latest Nvidia dirivers EU3 will run with this card. However the GForce FX5200 card is right at the edge of the minimum requirements and as such the game will not run that quickly.
