Sorry, but your video card does not meet the bare minimum requirements. Even if it squeaked past, the game would likely be unplayable with the combination of the card and low RAM.

I am sure I wont play it on this computer... ( although I enjoy playing my Paradox games here )

We have another computer at our place with a better newergraphics card ( we bought this year. )

All want to do is test how LOW its going to be. if its even barable.

there are other games that demand WAY far more than EU3 that I was able to play with 1-2 second lags every 10-20 minutes... but that was acceptable to me.

( I am also using this game to convince my mom our computer is OLD, so we can go shopping for another one... but really, if i cant even play the game, I might as well wait until I have more money, 2 years from now to buy a new computer. )

I had this problem.
If you run the game in windowed mode it works.
I also have a FX5600.
Send your dxdiag to Mr.T by email and hopefully there will be a solution for our graphics card (although the solution might be; get a new one).

I have the same card with 256mb which happily runs Medieval 2 Total War so if the issue is not resolved I will not be buying EU3.

It is a shame that GeForce FX5000 series cards are experiencing problems and that a number of loyal customers are unable to play the demo.
But as an objective observer I must say: enough with the drama queen act gentlemen.
I don't think all the sad face icons and "i guess i won't buy ur game, boo hoo hoo" is going to help get the problem fixed.
PI is working on a solution. Let's try to provide usefull information.

Don't you think loyal customers should express there opinion. we have all been Paradox fans for ages and all of sudden we are hit some graphical proplems.

its a shock... trust me, I have felt it. I usually buy and play paradox games within the first 2 weeks, this time, I wont... no fun for me... but life continues.

Really, this is not the only game that has had some graphical compatibility issues on launch. Especially considering this is not a huge publishing house and has more limited resources. Paradox has an excellent history of patching their games and taking care of their fans, so I have no regrets about pre-ordering the CE even if I have to wait for patch 1.1 to launch it.

Just send in your dxdiag and have a little faith!

I never said "guess" and I didn't use a sad icon. I assume that they will fix it since that is what happened after the first medieval 2 total war demo. If they don't then I am not upgrading my graphics card for a game that is not going to have particularly amazing graphics.

That is a common problem.
Send your Dxdiag to MrT via email - see post 4 of this thread for his address.

Hopefully, there will be a fix for it soon - it appears to be (from my albeit limited experience) a T&L issue. You can get the game to run (assuming you meet all other requirements) by using 3d Analyze and setting it to force software T&L, although it will look like the earth has flooded.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Ok, then here's the plan : you buy Oblivion, upgrade your graphid card for that, *then* you get EU III :-D. (What do you mean, "Oblivion work on my current card?". Well, of course it does, but not *good enough!*...ah, hell, shutting up now)

Intel Extreme 3D Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory

YES i know its crappy, but it runs well on DD and Football manager 2007... the later more of a database intesive.

I am owrried I have to change my card... #1... i cant because the computer is crappy... I rather buy a new one that upgrade this one.
"Intel Extreme" and "Intel Extreme 2" graphics do not support Pixel Shader 2.0 which is an absolute requirement for EU3. The oldest Intel graphics that supports PS2 is the "GMA 900" chip (and many people are having problems with later Intel graphics probably related to the shared memory or lack of true hardware transform & lighting support).

:)

Email was already sent a while ago... however, if one suffers in silence, then developers dont act on an urgent need - I am all for as many people letting the developers know their concerns... not buying the game is just silly talk, imo - if you are on these boards, you know damn well you are going to get the game, just a matter of waiting until your personal problem is attended to... :p

If they come out with v1.01 after the game is launched that solves the problem, and then an updated demo a week or two later, then all these "sad face icons" obviously did the trick... but of course, send the specs of the problem to the developer so they know the size of it...

Hell, I even booked off yesterday in anticipation of playing EU3 all day...

Whats amazing is that the game's not even out yet, and already half the forum is screaming for a patch/fix (me included). If this shows one thing, it's how much we're used to the guys at paradox giving us excellent customer support. So to all patch requesters, have patience, I'm sure paradox won't let us down.

Actually the game works in full mode too. I downloaded MrT's settings.txt and the game loaded up in full screen no prob. The only real problem is the bad performance generally, something which Johan said was due to the FX 5000 series in general being the bare minimum that can run the game.
That means that the loading up of the game can be fixed, the low frame rates however, can't. So anyone with a FX5000 series is going to have to upgrade if he wants to play the game at a decent pace.

Here at Paradox towers we have bought a GForce FX5200 card to test compatibility issues that have been reported. We have discovered that provided you have the latest Nvidia dirivers EU3 will run with this card. However the GForce FX5200 card is right at the edge of the minimum requirements and as such the game will not run that quickly.

That's a shame. I could have sent you my 5700 for cheap since I replaced it last night to play the demo :D

Yes, Civ4 had much worse graphics problems at 1.0, but mostly with ATI cards.
