Graphics Card?

Hey all,

I recently posted a thread asking for any conformation on whether my computer could play CK2. Well my laptop has all the recommended specs to play the game. However, the problem is my graphics card... my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040. Now I know what your thinking... "Laptops are awful for gaming!" I am aware of this but this laptop is all I have thats worth while attempting to play any game. I checked the Can You Run It website and everything looks good except for my graphics card. Which is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 42000 Series. Everything else is good except for that... What are my chances of being able to play this game? Will it have major lag? The main question is, is it playable?

Responses are welcome. Been a fan of the game since its release and id like to finally play it.

CK2 is CPU-intensive, not GPU. There's not a lot of heavy-duty rendering that goes on.

If you don't meet minimum requirements there's of course no guarantee things will work right. For example, my old laptop had some graphics issues with EU4 (although the game itself ran fine - you just couldn't see anything. No issues on CK2 though). But weaker graphics capability probably shouldn't contribute too heavily to performance slowdowns.

I meet all the requirments, including the minimum requrirements on my graphics card shaders and all. So theres not guarentee itll run?

Well, there's one way to know for sure...

If your rig can't handle it, generally the worst outcome is having to do a forced shutdown (4 seconds on the power button).

It's rare for a program to just outright kill a machine, but running hot does dramatically reduce the life expectancy of a laptop. For this reason I would highly recommend getting a chill mat (and make sure it has legs to sit on for airflow, the ones that sit flat don't help much at all).
