Graphics card issue(s) - Follow up

Hi,

A follow-up on my previous thread. A new one because the previous one's been a while, and it got pretty big ... A link to it, should you need it.

I was able to photograph the screen when it hangs, the pc also emits a single tone (the one it's stuck at, likely), until it luckily recovered:




My eventviewer has the following errors:

Also, I've had total crashes happen right after start up, so I doubt it's really temperature related.

I've just had this happen again, but this time it did not recover. It took several tries to get the PC to boot again ...

This is virtually certainly a hardware fault with your video card, I'm afraid.

Sadly I come to that conclusion as well, what would be the best way to make sure I buy the right type of graphics card? I 'think' everything should be fine as long as the motherboard can handle it, but how do I know that?

The slot, mostly.
Although a bigger concern might be the power connectors on your power supply, as well as the wattage requirements.
Also, don't forget to install the latest drivers for the new card.

Yes, I'd take your machine into the shop where you intend to buy the card, so it's on them to get the right one and make sure it all works.

I've called them, if I bring my pc in they will check and do a quick fix if possible, but likely it will need to stay longer.

At any rate, it's still under warranty, so that's good.
