Here's the next installment. Sorry that it has taken some time, but I have school to work with unfortunately, and my mum absolutely has to use this computer to do her work on when she's home these days...

“Zzzzzzz…..”
“Grandpa!”
“zzz….hrrrrrrmm….wh….at?”
“How did it go? Did he do many great deeds?” Did he?”
“Did….who? Ah! Yes, yes, I’ll tell my tale. Listen, for Heinrich is an ear worthy!”
The first years of Heinrich’s reign were quiet, except for the usual attacks from pagan scumbags all over the place. Around Christmas time 1209 however, happened the only unusual: It was discovered that the duke of Esthonia, the subject of the Emperor and the one big torn in the eye of old Bernhard, had planned to kill his own 14 year old son, a count under king Heinrich, to get his holdings. This dishonourable plans had to be stopped, wise Heinrich decided, and an assassination attempt on the duke himself was done. This would have the nice side-effect that the young count would inherit the dukedom himself, and thus secure it for Lithuania. Unfortunately, the attempt was discovered and stopped. Luckily it obviously stopped the duke from fulfilling his plans, but a month later, an assassin was found hiding in king Heinrich’s own bed room! The king was enraged, but decided to end the fight there, to not upset the kingdom’s stability too much.
After that , little happened. Until October 1211. That month, Heinrich decided he could not be worse than his great father. He and his house was destined to conquer the pagans and converting them for the Lord! The king of Norway had lately showed up in the Finnish lands yet not part of Lithuania, and conquered them. Heinrich was desperate. He knew that he could not go to war himself, severely wounded as we was, but he could organize it! He could pray! He could fund it! He knew too little was done to baptize the pagans, only one province was so far saved for the Lord! He wanted to build churches, but the Lord told him they would be of no use yet. “Set your best priests to spread the word.” He said to Heinrich in his dreams, “I do not want churches, I want souls! I will tell you when you can build a house for me.” And so it went. Heinrich set his best men to work, and sent over an expedition to pagan lands. “Conquer for the Lord, or die trying!” was his mantra.
And conquered they did. The Sames was subdued, and the king’s next oldest son got the provinces to gain them for the Lord. In the mean time, the king’s wife was once again pregnant, at an age of 37 no less! She had given the kingdom lots of children, all boys, but to Heinrich’s great sorrow, none of them had any skills in the ruling of a country. But lo and behold! In the middle of the pregnancy, the queen got complications, and died! The king mourned for a month, and them started looking for a new wife. He was truly sorrow he said to his nearest, but evil tongues claimed he had had her killed, and even relatives were unsure what to think. Nothing could be proved of curse, as all evil rumours. Some months after these sad events, Heinrich and his lovely bride Rycheza were wed in the old family church of the dynasty’s old Saxon lands. Soon they were expecting a child.
The new wife.
April 1215 things began to happen again. The king one night got a vision and a revelation from the Lord Almighty himself! He was told that he was to start the construction of a church in Memel, his capital province, and that it was time to extend his kingdom’s border, this time into orthodox lands. With little prestige, the possible targets was few, but God in His mercy gave directions. A dark night in the middle of April 1215, an army began marching from Memel to the lands of the prinsipality of Volhynia.

“Hrrrrrrrrnnnnnn…….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……….*snort*….zzzzzzz……”
“Grandpa?”
“Zzzzzzzzz………”
“Grandpa! Oh, well… Good night grandpa. Sleep well.” the child says, kisses the old man gently on the chin and slowly walks out.
