Thanks for the quick answear, I´m planning to buy a new card and the sell man told me about that one.

Another option that I saw there was the "VGA - video card PCI-E 6600 256MB SENTEY TV-OUT"

Would this one work?

Edit: Is this the one everyone is mentioning?

Thank you very much!!

Now I´m going to check on the Medieval 2 total war forum if this video card works with that game too, as I want to buy one that works for both games.

Strange that there's not a troubleshooting forum, but when I try to start the game I get a failure to create a graphics device... I can run Civ 4 fine on my laptop but with this I seem to have run into a brick wall.

Any ideas?

Register your game to get access to the tech forum.

What error message did you get - "Could not initialise graphics card" or something along those lines? If so the problem appears to be incompatibility with Intel integrated graphics cards and Paradox are looking into the matter.

No- "failure to create a graphics device", and it is an Intel thing, so that could very well make sense.

I've had the same issue unfortunately. Its a known one with the Intel cards and apparently all we can do is hope that Paradox can provide a solution.

I have just talked with the sales man of the video card (VGA - video card PCI-E 6600 256MB SENTEY TV-OUT), he just told me that it was a PCI-Express and not AGP like the other one (VGA GeForce FX 5500 - 256 Mb).

I wonder why would he warned me that it was PCI-Express and not AGP, may I have a problem with this card? Will the game function?

AGP and PCI-E (and PCI) are slots in your PC. If you buy a PCI-E card but have an AGP slot then the card simply will not fit. On the other hand if your PC will accept PCI-E cards then you're in luck as this is he newest standard, and therefore supports the latest cards.

I hace just found out that my Motherboard is an Assus P4P800 SE.

Then I checked at the Asus web page but I couldn´t find the video card slot information, does anyone know if it supports the PCI cards?

Edit: Don´t mind, I just found out it supports AGP 8x :(

Edit 2:

Ok, this is the last question and I won´t bother anymore; I just found this 2 cards, I know one should be much better than the other, but what I want to know is if it´s worthy to buy the better one to run this 2 games at full detail(EUIII and MT2)

Video card ASUS 7600 GS AGP 4X/8X 256Mb HDTV BOX (This costs twice the other one)

Video Card XFX 6200 A 256 MB DDR2 AGP 8x Tv Out j2

THANKS A LOT

This is the precise error that I have, "failure to create a graphics device," I installed it on another machine that is 6 years old and I'll test the compability there. I cannot gain access to the Tech Forum, is this because my default brower isn't IE Windows Explorer? So far I have neither Technical support nor an operating game and am concerned.

By the way I have an Intel Open GL 128 MG that is intregated onto the Motherboard. I can give the specific brand and I'd like to hear from other's that own Dell's and if they're experiencing the same thing?

yep Dell Laptops with the Intel integrated Chipsets won't work... (mine included) the problem being not with Pixelshader or the 128 MBt capacity but with Intels desision to offload certain functions onto the processor. EU3's code doesn't like that and won't load.

Paradox is aware of the issue, but the fact that they never thought to test the code on the 3rd largest graphics chip manufactures hardware, and that it's been over a week and no word on a solution doesn't fill me with much hope they are going to manage it.

Im not surprises by the price since the Geforce 7600 GS is a fast card, marketed for the serious gamer and is a generation ahead of the Geforce 6200 which was marketed as a cheap budget card but both cards will play EU3. I know Geforce 7600 will play Medieval Total War 2 with mid/high settings while im sure the 6200 will play it on low graphic settings, definitly turn of antialiasing in options as I believe its on by default.

Ok, I´ll check the budget and pick one of those two.

Thanks
