Just found out when we started the other game, that all the others are the superplayers(damo and ryo and so on) ... AARGH... and the biggest i've played is 2p:p:)

That sounds great, Mr. Zooman! Thanks! :)

It would be nice to have you as a permanent sub for several countries, but in the near future I think Castile and France needs subs for the first session (Sunday, 10) ... Isn`t that correct, marcosortega and Osweld?

Please pm them, or eventually gak.

Anything you want to ask us, just pm me or gak or write a reply here .. :)

Well - if you could be our permanent sub it would be great if you could give us an e-mail you check on regular basis, so that we are able to contact you, and give you the information you need. As Gottwaldus stated this will for the first session be Castille and France. Send a PM or contact them by ICQ. Thereafter you can post a replu here where you announces who you are going to play for.

Thanks!

The Scandinavian Republic express sympathy with the Lord Protector of Helvetia, and hope he will get well soon. We are looking forward for a good cooperation.

Posted by Gottwaldus in the vote thread:
Answer (012): Yes, if the alliances can cooperate with each others when its needed. I also think it should be made possible to ignore it at certain circumstances after negotations with the administrator ...

Of course alliances can cooperate - the rule involves nothing more than what`s described. By the way: since you only voted yes, without specify if you wanted 2 or 3 human players per alliance to be maximum, your vote will not influence if the final rule says 2 or 3 to be maximum.

It`s the king of Helvetia who is ill, not the Lord Protector!:p

And the Lithuanian government also express sympathy with the King :)

Then I vote for 3 human player countries maximum in each alliance .. :p

Dawkins argued against the maximum-2/3 human-players-per alliance-rule:

1) It would be impossible to enforce, since 2 allied groups can cooperate and would just act as unofficial allies. In this situation all this rule does is make peace negotiations far more complicated.

This isn`t true: when two alliances work together, there is a lot more BB involved which will make the cooperation more expensive and less benefitable. The alliance partners do not receive stability hits for dishonoring the alliance, either - so a such alliance may easily be broken. And - as you stated - peace negotations may be more difficult (but not neccessarily, since you can agree on peace between the sessions - and edit the changes decided (including BB, of course)).

2) Large alliances are often needed to keep the game interesting by ganging up on a super power.

Of course they are - but the whole clue about this rule is to keep the AI nations relevant. If you will attack a super-power you can attack them together with your vast alliance along with AI nations, and maybe other alliances will follow the attack up. This also makes it very difficult for bad boys to form huge alliances which again prevents super-powers from growing.

3) Mass alliances are a symptom of a game stagnating due to cowardly/un-ambitious players. It is a symptom *not* a cause, since if those players wanted to win they would break their mass alliance voluntarily.

Or maybe they feel that they have benefits of being members of a super alliance? If 7-8 human players ally, no one can stop them, they don`t have to care about BB - and can conquer whatever they want! The AI become irrelevant and we got a Europe divided between the human players - which will harm the game enormously! Then the - possibly - two human alliances will clash together (very unhistorically), and.... nothing left.

"News spread quickly around the Helvetia court and Europe:"
The King is dead, the crier shouts on the market square!

A messenger arrives at Grand Duke Vytautas' court, presenting a scroll

I regret to inform you that our King has died, and until his heir has grown into age, Lord Protector, Marquis De Winter, is acting Regent

(OOC : Truth to be told, the king of helvetia has a such an odd name, that I can't spell it ;) it's more turkish than german or swiss)

The Lord Protector, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to sign the treaty, and he sends best wishes to Grand Duke Vytautas the Great , and informs us that he is looking forward to further contacts in the future.

A messenger arrives at the Scandiavian Republic:

We, in our infinite wisdom, thank the Republic for their sympathy , but we regret to inform that our king has died in a strange disease. And Lord Protector, Marquis De Winter, is now acting regent until the prince has reached mature age.

The President of the Scandinavian Republic, Bjørg Instefjord, condole. She expresses her deepest sympathy with the Helvetian government, and wishes Marquis De Winter good luck as the regent of the Swiss cantons. Especially in the winter season... :D :p :p

Of course! Then the Scandinavian President - and nine other head of states with him - also must be ill ... What a fool I am, I should have understood that earlier ...

And to your information; Helvetia has not yet signed ... But the will soon :) :D

I`ll update the treaty document at once. :)

And the Grand Duke is awfully sorry that the Swiss King had died.
