Hello again! Since everybody who follows this AAR have nicely been able to wait for a new update I'll make it a bit longer than normally. Here you are:
March 1889:
Long way to catch both British and Prussians. Note how Burgundy trails both Prussians and French in number of standing army divisions. Also note the arms race between South American countries. Is Uruguay ready to attack her neighbours?
Peak into Burgundian economy. Most profitable factories:
Situation in the scramble of Africa. It appears at the moment that Africa will be divided between Burgundians and British. Grand Duke establishes a plan to connect separate colonies and beat British in colonial race of Africa.
1) Fully claim Niger delta despite British protests then move upstream Niger river and conquer more land.
2) Push further inland in Mauritania and try to get to Niger river.
3) Annex Sudan in Eastern Africa then move further west and try to get to Lake Chad and to Niger river.
Will this plan work?
August-November 1889:
Grand Duke's colonial plan takes first steps when CBAO(Burgundian East Africa Company) annexes Sudan.
November 1889:
The CBAO's army don't waste too much time and war against Borno is started right after Sudan is fully controlled by Burgundians.
December 1889:
Burgundian navy further expands with 3 PDN battleships. Naval race situation at the moment. British is alone number one but Burgundy has gained a firm foothold at the second place. Althought Russia has more war ships than Burgundy Russian Navy is hopelessly antiquated.
January 1890:
War against Borno is over. Lake Chad is reached. So far so good, plan is going well. Burgundian colonial holdings at the moment. British have given guarantee of independency to Sokoto and Grand Duke won't risk conflict with United Kingdom so the plan to push inland along Niger river is put on hold at the moment.
April 1890:
Things start to look bright again in home sole too. No more instability and emigration has deceased notable. Maybe there is point to give more foothold to new modern ideas in Burgundian government in order to keep people happy.
Natural population growth: 87,000, emigration: 4,000.
