By the way, have you disabled the events in your game? Just wondering how the engine deals with the existence of an Burgundian empire.
I have only added events IIRC. no deleted/disabled events at all. An I only added events to Genoa and Burgundy.

I feared before playing that the game could be easily ruined beyond playable because the setup of Revolutions+VIP+Burgundy but everything has been so far better than good.

Even Franco-Prussian war of 1870 went okay; the events triggered and war was declared but since there wasn't any common border between Prussia and France status quo peace was signed after some months of fake war. Alternative history was quite good here since there was the Prusso-Burgundian war of 1866-68 instead.

Actually It's a bit sad that this "mod" will be used only once since it has worked so good.

Hello again! Since everybody who follows this AAR have nicely been able to wait for a new update I'll make it a bit longer than normally. Here you are:

March 1889:
vic111lt4.jpg

vic113wq5.jpg

Long way to catch both British and Prussians. Note how Burgundy trails both Prussians and French in number of standing army divisions. Also note the arms race between South American countries. Is Uruguay ready to attack her neighbours?

Peak into Burgundian economy. Most profitable factories:
vic112ag9.jpg

Situation in the scramble of Africa. It appears at the moment that Africa will be divided between Burgundians and British. Grand Duke establishes a plan to connect separate colonies and beat British in colonial race of Africa.
1) Fully claim Niger delta despite British protests then move upstream Niger river and conquer more land.
2) Push further inland in Mauritania and try to get to Niger river.
3) Annex Sudan in Eastern Africa then move further west and try to get to Lake Chad and to Niger river.
vic110cp2.jpg

Will this plan work?

August-November 1889:
Grand Duke's colonial plan takes first steps when CBAO(Burgundian East Africa Company) annexes Sudan.

November 1889:
The CBAO's army don't waste too much time and war against Borno is started right after Sudan is fully controlled by Burgundians.

December 1889:
Burgundian navy further expands with 3 PDN battleships. Naval race situation at the moment. British is alone number one but Burgundy has gained a firm foothold at the second place. Althought Russia has more war ships than Burgundy Russian Navy is hopelessly antiquated.
vic115nf3.jpg

January 1890:
War against Borno is over. Lake Chad is reached. So far so good, plan is going well. Burgundian colonial holdings at the moment. British have given guarantee of independency to Sokoto and Grand Duke won't risk conflict with United Kingdom so the plan to push inland along Niger river is put on hold at the moment.
vic114bq3.jpg

April 1890:
Things start to look bright again in home sole too. No more instability and emigration has deceased notable. Maybe there is point to give more foothold to new modern ideas in Burgundian government in order to keep people happy.
vic116mv6.jpg

vic117zj1.jpg

Natural population growth: 87,000, emigration: 4,000.

A very good plan for Africa there. Nice to see it working for now but will it anger the British soon?

We'll see about that. Maybe British will be happy as long as there is continental balance of power between Prussia and Burgundy. At the moment Burgundy has challenged British in colonial race but there is many people in United Kingdom that still see Burgundy just as a minor hindrance to the british globe domination.

After all Burgundy is living on the edge all the time. Problems inside and Prussian and French threads outside make sure that Grand Duke will be busy. Althought Burgundy is finely built house is just a card house that will crumble as soon as british want so. Either they will use French or Prussians but one thing is sure - British don't see Burgundy as a vital competitor in world domination.

I suspect that they fear that a collapse of Burgansdy , while assuring them of dominance in Africa , would lead to full scale fighting all over western Europe , as France , Prussia and Austria fight over the carcass of Burgandy - if they fall .

Unless the current prime minister was very much pro- colonial , even to the detriment of contiental stability , Burgundy would be fairly secure.

November 1890:
United Scandinavia declares war on Hamburg. Both Prussia and Burgundy are guaranteeing independency of Hamburg so they join the same side as Hamburg in the conflict. It's clear that United Scandinavia will be having hard time if they really want to expand their influence in Northern Germany.

November 29, 1890:
Burgundian forces hurry to help out Hamburg. Battle of Hamburg starts...
vic118xe5.jpg

January 12, 1891
...Battle of Hamburg ends. Scandinavian intented expedition of conquest is smashed by joint operation of Prussians and Burgundians.
vic119vj0.jpg

In the process Scandinavian military score drops from 26 to 15.

Prussians are attacking Copenhagen while Burgundian landing army heads to Stockholm.
vic120zo8.jpg

Burgundian navy is strengthen with three new PDN battleships.

January 24, 1891:
Ottoman declares war against Persia. Both Russia and British take Persian side since they really try to forestall Ottoman expansion in to the east..

February 1891:
Battle of Stockholm; Althought outnumbering their opponents fierce resistance of Scandinavians forces Burgundians to abandon their plan to take Stockholm.
vic121ub6.jpg

May 1891:
New peace deal is signed between Prussia, Burgundy and Scandinavia. The war lasted for 6 months and Scandinavians were totally beaten. Kiel is handed to Prussia.

June 1891:
Ottoman Empire annexes large parts of Persia. British and Russian foreign policy has failed to control Ottoman expansion again.

I don't really get why you helped the Prussians. Shouldn't you have kept out of the conflict to get Prussia weaker or even sided with Scandinavia to bring Prussia down?

Duke of Wellington said:
I'm inclined to agree with CSK's comment here.

The logic is this: The winner is already clear. military scores Prussia 160+ Scandinavia 26 = Prussia will win. If Burgundy stays out Prussia will get Hamburg, Kiel & Lauenburg, maybe also Flensburg and Ribe (even whole Jylland). When Burgundy intervenes atleast Hamburg will stay independent.

I never even thought of going aggressive/neutral agaist Prussia during the conflict. But since you guys bring up the point it would have been a (good) idea.

September 1891:
After British relationships with Sokoto has deteriorate to the brink of war in May 1891 Burgundy gets free hands in Niger river area. Grand Duke declares war on Sokoto and last stage of Grand Duke's plan to connect Burgundian colonial holdings starts.
vic123ab6.jpg

December 1891:
Burgundian navy adds four PDN Battleships.

February 1892:
Sokoto loses the war against Burgundy. Eastern half of Sokoto will be under direct Burgundian colonial rule while western side of Sokoto will be Protectorate of Burgundy.
vic124cs3.jpg

March 1892:
First general strike hits Grand Duchy of Burgundy.
vic125pl7.jpg

July 1892:
China violates Burgundian trade interests when chinese officials burn some of Burgundian stocks. This quickly leads to war against China. Grand Duke sends veteran forces in to Far East in order to give chinese a lesson how to treat Burgundian citizens!

September 1892:
Burgundian armies are approaching Beijing.
vic126jm7.jpg

April 1893:
First signs of another economical downturn arrives in to Grand Duchy when Panic of 1893 hits Burgundian stock markets.
Four more PDN Battleships are set to sail in order to secure colonial and trade interests.

April 1894:
Peace is concluded with China. Shanghai is given to Burgundy as treaty port and lower Yangtze river with ~35 million people quickly becomes practically under Burgundian rule.

It's basically all those depression events which adds something like +5 militancy to all POPs, also constantly firing Flemish Movement adds +5 mil to Flemish POPs. And being still Monarchy with high plurality doesn't excatly help.

Black May 1894:
French Nationalists assasinate Grand Duke de Bar! They have planned the bomb assassination fairly well and old Grand Duke gets killed while travelling the streets of Nancy in his carriage. No Grand Duke has been assassinated since 1398 when Grand Duke Bruno de Bar was killed. What a trategy! The recent assassination leads to massive instability through out the country. Separatist movements all over Burgundy provoke their ideas of independency and autonomy. Especially Flemish Movement takes everything out of this and upset things beyond every reasonable point in Vlaandern. It won't help that the recession of 1893 is still there to make people unhappy. Althought new Grand Duke quickly succeeds his grand-father as the head of state Burgundy may now be doomed for good.

Another four PDN Battleships are ready for action.

December 1894:
Maybe Burgundy will stay together somehow. We have seen worse over the years.
vic130eg4.jpg

May 1895:
Things just won't settle down in Grand Duchy. The whole unrest turns into the Socialist Revolution and full scale civil war is imminent. Young Grand Duke have no choice but to give in and make final desperate but necessary reforms while trying to keep Burgundian lands together..
vic131uq6.jpg

This is final blow on long line of de Bars as Grand Dukes of Burgundy and their absolute power in Burgundy.

Recent reforms: Voting rights are given to everybody with considerably wealth. This turns Grand Duchy in effect to Constitunional Monarchy. Union Libérale are given the power to form provisional cabinet. First open elections will be held in March 1896. Then we'll see which band of hooligans (as the old Grand Duke would have said) will form the first elected cabinet of Burgundy. Althought Libérale Union is strongly liberal in their politics most of the Burgundians with the right to vote would like to see even more radical turn in politics.
Before and after the reforms:

Damn shame about the Socialist Revolution. Maybe you'll be able to give 'em enough rope to simply hang themselves with and move back toward the more conservative side of the spectrum?

Nice move in the Far East and nicer moves in Africa. However, I'm also concerned about British intentions if it comes to war. Oh, and who the heck is holding that plot of land in East Africa between Burgundy and the British?
