Ouch, that had to have hurt... and hurt in a big way!

So, how are thing looking, recovery wise? Will the Grand Duchy fall apart from within, or will now the French come a'knocking looking to finish the job the Prussians started?

Not at all. Atleast nothing important. Some craftsmen and clercks but nothing economically really important was lost.

OUCH!

Hmm.... time for vengeance, that's what I say.

btw, perhaps this was asked already a 1000 times (but I can't remember): can a German unification happen in this game?
Yes. there is extra chain for Prussia to form Germany. (I hope that we won't see that happening in-game.) chain: 1) control Burgundian capital. 2) win a war against Burgundy 3) form United Germany. (There is also the original chains but i don't really believe that they will work properly.)

If Germany is formed then the Grand Duchy will fall since Rhine Germans would like to be part of United Germany. This will propably lead also other nationalities to leave Grand Duchy (can't really remember how the chain is since it's already three months since I wrote the events.) But anywat the collapse was very near in September 1902.

And I must say that hopefully we will see a vengeance.

Internally Grand Duchy is okay. No problem there. Now it's time for Burgundy to enter arms race again in order to 1)prevent unwanted wars 2)beat Prussians in the future.

December 1902:
Revanchism spreads in Burgundy. Only 3 months after the peace with Prussia some people start to demand actions against Prussians.

February 1903:
Gas defence capability is finally developed.

Portugal declares colonial war on Grand Duchy. This is third nation trying to take advantage on Burgundian Socialist Revolution and still high war exhaustion. Portugal was easily beaten last time and they shouldn't be big problem for Burgundian Navy at this time either.
vic186hh7.jpg

June 1903:
After 4 months of Navy blockade and some minor fighting in colonies Portugal agrees to sign new peace deal with Burgundy. All colonies of Portugal will be now part of Burgundian Empire. Portugal is only allowed to keep the Azores and Madeira.

October 1903-January 1904:
Burgundian army start to push inland from newly acquired Guinea. This leads to war against Tukulor. After some fighting land passage is opened to include Guinea to Burgundian Africa.
Africa 1904:
vic187ab2.jpg

October 1904:
Stormtrooper training is started in Burgundian army. Land forces are getting on par with other Central European armies.
vic188zg0.jpg

Population growth 171,000, emigration 2,000.

March 1905:
End of socialist revolution. Finally. It only took ten years and several wars.

One Question to everybody:

According to screenshots Burgundian population dropped from 98,3 millions to 94,3 between August 1904 and May 1905. What's the reason of this? There wasn't war or any major mole whacking (as far as I can remember).

Any ideas?

4 million anarcho-liberals furious after their defeat at the polls, leave the country. Naturally, they provide no names or forwarding address. They just leave bewildered census takers and customs officers to conduct long, but pointless, searches for the missing millions.

I'd guess - though it would only be a guess - a serious spurt of emigration.

Naah I don't think it can be emigration. After all it's just 9 months and screenshots show us 2,000 emigration per month during that time. Can't be emigration. It's just impossible. Burgundy has ~170 provinces*9months*1000 POPs emigrate/month/province*4=6,120,000. In theory possible but practically impossible. especially if we add the population growth of 170k*9=1530k

Wenis said:

There was no wars going on during the time span.

This leave us two more choices:
1) whack-a-mole. 4,000,000+1,530,000 (population growth)=5,630,000 is just 16 POPs of 90k perished during revolts. That is the most practial solution althought I wouldn't say so.
2) rounding down when saving. 5,630,000/4/49= 28,700 POPs.
98 mil/28,700/4= ~850 people per POP. not possible at all. I don't have 28,700 POPs more like 2,500 or maybe 5,000.

So propably whack-a-mole. althought I find it hard to believe that everybody in Burgundian China felt like: "Hey let's have a ball and kill ourselfs during rebellion" and after that they all went peacefully home and never rebelled again (since the population is working normal (=growing) few months before and few months after the mysterous drop.

But that's enough of that. In-game it will be noticed just by Grand Duke saying:
"I have lost more people in the last census than in wars during the last ten years."

August 1905-October 1905
Angola is united with the rest of Burgundian Africa when Yeke is annexed.

Railroad network in Africa:

Yeke with red line.

September 1905:
Libérale Union stays in power after the elections.

October 1905
Burgundian Navy could be strengthened with Dreadnoughts but there isn't any telephones in the world market so it's impossible to construct any Dreadnoughts. What a pity.

July 1906

Prussia has 242 divisions and Burgundy has just 73. It will take some time before there will be revenge against Prussians.

Natural population growth 170,000, immigration and emigration cancel each other out.

January 1907:
Burgundian Army starts to perform experiments with tanks. New tactics are tried out.

Burgundian railroad network is developing.

It does appear that perhaps the Prussians are looking for a rematch with intent on destroying the Grand Duchy. If they do, what chances do you have for any allies to assist in distracting the Prussians?

Wow, your army got slaughtered.

Obviously a major point of interest.

As for the navy, as long as you are on good terms with The Uk then it should take a backseat to the army.

Sorry that I'm updating today a bit late. I hope that everybody had enough patience to wait.

January 1910:
Marxist Japan declares war against China after annexation of Korea.

March 1910:
Automobile Factory is opened in Lorraine.
vic2011iv.jpg

June 1910:
Conservative Zentrumpartei wins the first universal suffrage elections in Burgundy.
Typical unhappy officer after the elections. Final straw was the adoption of universal suffrage.
vic2002jk.jpg

September 1910:
Grand Duke declares war on China. Partly because Army wants to try out their new fine Tank Brigades against some uncivilized nation.
Situation in the Far East Before the war. Japan has already conquered large parts of China:
vic2024fe.jpg

November 1910:
Japan hastily concludes peace with China (gaining 9 provinces) and then right after that declares war on Burgundy in January 1911. Right After this Burgundy signs peace with China and arms are turned against Japan. Officers will now get some practice against a civilized nation too although is just Japan.

Far East when Burgundy has just signed peace with China. Burgundy gains four new provinces near Shanghai and ~20 million new citizens.
vic2034ox.jpg

Typical battle in the Korea or Japan main islands during the war:
vic2043ev.jpg

March 1913:
vic2053ov.jpg

February 1914:
After over 3 years of fighting white peace is signed with Marxist Japan.

Relations with UK are always round +190 so no worries there. But since Burgundy has a bit high BB (~25-35 points) it's very hard to find allies.

Though I do quite like the idea of a Marxist Japan

How did the tank brigade do? i think you wil need for more of them and a n air corps as well to stop the Prussians. The new Chinese Burgundians ought to help augment your armies facing the horrible hun.
