So, I gave Moravian to the FINNISH tag, and the Vlach to the Iberian sprite for the moment, which is somewhat odd, but it was free.

Adjustment suggestions are welcome. Once we've sorted the tags, we can proceed.

Having Moravian as ugirc batlic will be odd but i'm sure we'll come up with something that makes more sense. Also, vlaxch being Iberian is ok because it will be different then anybody around them and give them a 'latin' feel.

That's very much possible. My screen has a tendency to darken occasionally and it's generally more darker than your average screen.

However, it's rather dark brown, I believe. You can guess twice why my duchy and kingdom maps use the colours they do.

How old is it? have you ever considering getting it replaced or fixed?

Seven years old about. And I hope to get new one somewhen, but my computer hardware isn't exactly state-of-the-art in any of it's parts.

I have an 8 year old 15" monitor upstairs along with my 8 year old AMD K-6 266mhz up stairs! Also I don't think you have worry about compatibility when it comes to monitor, I suggest asking a friend who's good with computers and works with them a lot (ie. does repairs, maintanence etc.)

The thing is, my monitor is less in need of improvement than most of the other parts.

We switched Norse for Finnish so we can use Finnish for Western Slavic so we can use it for one of the Balkan cultures.

It was a new idea from this thread, we didn't actually have any tag in mind to replace it with. I guess it takes precedent over Samoyed for now until we're done consilidating tags

Yeah, ok; but hang on about Samoyed. Alan takes precedence over a number of cultures!

Well considering that it's the most played scenario in CK, I think it should be our first priority

Indeed, no actual discussion of the Gaelic matter has commenced, this thread has only been opened less then a day yet people are at our throats for working to slowly . I'm personally very interested in the matter, the merging of the two cultures would make perfect sense other then a few naming anamolies. The two Gaelic cultures, Irish and Scottish shared a very strong bond during this time period, with Irish clergy usually going to Scotland to bolster any regions lacking in men on the cloth. The language was certainly mutually intelligable and is a good candidate for a possible merger. We have to remember though, merging cultures is not always nescessary, most merges are due to a need to squeeze out more tags, and there is an increasing lack of urgency in the need to do so anymore. I support the merger though, but it leaves us with a rather ungainly, free tag with a celtic sprite which can't be used anywhere else.

There are tons of things that could be done with the Scottish culture, but the way it is now is disgusting and Anglocentric.

I don't think a seperate Scots culture would be accurate considering the timeframe. There was no real 'Lowland Lallans' yet, the majority of Lowlanders where still more or less Gaelic as those to the north and remained so for a long while. Infact, the Lowland Scots who came Ulster in the 1600's would have still spoken Gaelic for example.

Even if there really were some few speakers of Celtiberian related language in Spain in CK era, it's an *awful* waste of tag to use it "possibly few characters"...

So, that's the 1066 map up. I'm exhausted :wacko:

Anywiehow, we need to free at least one light tag. We could do this by either

a) Getting rid of one of these cultures (the order reflects their standing in my head):

i) Carantanian
ii) Moravian
iii) Albanian
iv) Samoyed
v) Norman
vi) Portuguese

or b)

1) Recombining the cultures in the Balkans using fewer tags
2) Merging the Scandinavians (2 free tags)
3) Merging Bohemian and Moravian
4) Merging the Britons
5) Merging the Gaels

or c)

Taking the Turks back to two tags, and assigning moving a current light culture to a dark one.

I need consensus soon on a method. If no consensus emerges I will make the decision myself in order to get on with the mapping.
