I have an i5-2300 and a nVidia GTX 470 and am playing the game through Steam. It's fully updated, as far as I know.

The game runs fine, but as soon as I get to the title screen my GPU fan begins to spin extremely quickly- it sounds like a jet engine taking off. On the title screen the fan appears to just keep getting faster and faster the longer I leave it; it levels off as soon as I actually start a game, but it's still unusually loud. I ran some temperature checks and it doesn't look like anything is overheating, but the noise is extremely distracting.

This doesn't happen with any other game I currently own, even graphically demanding ones like Battlefield 4.

PDS games push the video card harder than almost any other games. Not because of detailed graphics or high resolutions, but because it offloads as much work as possible onto the video processor, to free up the main CPU to deal with the vast amount of data the game uses to model history.

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU) 1/ before starting the game up and 2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install GPU-Zand CPU-Z, or SPEEDFAN.

And can we see your CK2 settings.txt file please.
