Hi,

Just wanted to ask is there any way to view the government of another country (the screen with the head of state and ministers)? I'm asking since the manual states that to succesfully stage a coup the head of state should have the same idiology as you.

Also does anyone know how to increase the number of transports and escorts in the convoy menu? Are these related to the number of transport and cruiser units?

Another thing : is there a bug with the upgrade feature. I'm playing as Republican spain and concentrated on infantry to defeat the nationalists. I had the option of upgrading my artillery and anti tank infantry and did so. However as soon as they finishaed upgrading I noticed that the upgrade option remained on. I clicked again but this time took down the statistics of the unit to see whether any were being improved. Upon finishing the option remained on and non of the stats increased. Is this a bug? Also is there anyway to upgrade all the infantry at once rather then selecting them one by one and having to place them back in their original place?

Finally this is more a problem with the game. Does anyone have any problems with the german Jagdgeschwader fighters? In my game when I have a division composed only of these fighters i don't get the image of a plane on the map but only some garbled lines. I'm playing vanilla HOI with patch 1.06 installed? Has this happened to anyone before and can it be fixed?

1)No, you can't view another country's minister screen.
2)Yes, if you send transports or destroyers on convoy duty then it will increase your pool for transports and escorts. I think 1 transport gets you 10 in the convoy screen and same with destroyers
3)Yes, there is a bug with the upgrade units feature. Sometimes, even when you don't have any new techs, "upgrade unit" will still be an option

It's 20 for transports and 10 for destroyers.

Sorry about that then. I usually don't play nations with a colonial empire so I don't have a huge need for large convoys

1. Save current game
2. Start new game with another country
3. Load saved game file
4. View / change target government`s ministers (save under same name if you changed something)
5. quit & start new game as your original country

Or you could just exit your current game(after saving of course) go into the multiplayer screen and change your name then go back and start up the save game as whoever u want

If you click on the diplomatic menu and call up another country, it tells you what general type of government a country has which is what that basically means. Look at the
Government FAQ for more details. Someone recently posted that as the Soviet Union he couped Finland so I don't know how accurate that statement in the manual is. There is also a Diplomacy guide on the FAQ page which should also help you.

Land units do not have to be upgraded in standard HOI except for one occasion: units acquired after a civil war is ended. That could apply to some of your troops in Spain. Austrian troops after the Anschluss use this same rule and have to be upgraded. Before and after stats comparisons is the best way to be sure about this.

I have the same situation. There may be a sprite fix for this but you have to be careful about how you load the sprite package (there is a specific sequence for it).
