I wholeheartedly proclaim my gratitude for the non-Steam version.
I feel like I am mad sometimes due to everyone singing Steam's praises while I cannot find a single good thing about it, instead seeing it as a hive of annoyances, limitations and needless complications.
I will dance the jubilant dance when Steam, as well as other "content managing applications" meet their much deserved end.
I can see every game i own, and install / delete them with a click whenever i want from the exact same screen i launch the games.
I can auto update every game as soon as the patch launches, or turn that off if i want.
Can see all my friends, what games they are playing. Invaluable to me as i often jump into games with them just because they are playing.
Can see all my game details, cd keys, how long ive played, my achievements.
Can receive messages ingame that do not intrude, but can also be easily viewed and responded to with the click of a button. Again invaluable to me.
Ingame browser to i dont have to alt tab (a good feature in some games, un necessary in others)
I can view thousands of games on sale and specials simply by clicking a tab, the collection of games is also MASSIVE.
Steam runs unbelievable specials, and all the time, i have bought games ive played for weeks for $5 or less, and packages of a dozen games for $40.
On the other side the negative thing about steam is ?
Ive never had an issue with it, it has never caused me a single problem or restriction.
Steam and "content managing applications" will never meet their end, they are for sure the future.
When Steam first came out, myself and my best mate used it. Now every single friend i have in real life that plays games, uses steam, and 90% of my online friends...
You are the minority, and increasingly so.
If you dont believe me, go into your local game store, look at the PC section, then turn around and look at the rest of the store which is CONSOLE GAMES.
Games like CK2 wouldnt get nearly as many customers without steam.
