Got a rather more severe problem now.

I'm pretty sure this hasn't been happened to anyone yet. When attempting to launch the 1419 campaign, I recieved the following error message:
"Couldn't Open File: EEP\Scenarios\1419\1419_akk.inc Abort/Retry/Ignore"

Selecting any option will CTD. I've tried a couple options different, and I also attempted to replace 1419_akk.inc in the EEP profile with the standard 1419_akk.inc file, with no luck. I'll try a reinstall of the EEP next.

I don't remember really what that was, but I do know that it has happened before, so you are not alone. Hopefully, someone will know/remember what the fix was the last time because I, for the life of me can't.

It is a cool enough mod to be worth a couple of un/reinstalls. At least that is my experience. 1.4 was the akk problem. This time the "fail to initialize video". Keep trying; eventually it works.

1419_akk.inc were broken in a early 1.07 release IIRC. Perhaps try to download a new 1.07? At least I'm pretty sure it has to do with one of Paradox 1.07-something. What patches have you applied? In what order?

Just the stock 1.07. I used same version through three or four games without a problem. The big thing is I don't really want to play any of the betas. I like to think I'm pretty good, but sadomascocism isn't one of the things I'm looking to do whilst I'm gaming. Is there a "newer" stock 1.07?

Have you tried turning off the file load to confirm this is the problem? Go into the 1419 or 1419a file and put a # in front of the load command for AKK. If the game loads, that's your problem. If not, most likely something else. Another thing, is this a fresh install?

If the AKK.inc file is your problem, give me an e-mail address and I'll send you one that works.

Yes, it's a fresh install. Flushed and reloaded everything.

I'll attempt to do what you're suggesting.

And it didn't work. I get the same error message, but about 1419_ara.inc now. So it's probably not the file.

I'm going to attempt another complete flush and reinstall, and put it on my other hard drive just to be sure.

Hmm...since I'm out of ideas (and have been for a while )

Can you give us a break down of exactly how you are installing?

Insert CD in drive. Select install. Select directory on C:. Start install. Do the sacred monkey dance in homage to my monitor. Finish the install. Install the 1.07 patch. Install the EEP. The only possible problem could be with the EEP install, as it doesn't seem to work unless I manually select it to go into an EEP folder, but that doesn't sound like it'd be an issue.

I could also be doing the sacred monkey dance wrong.

I was actually asking more about the installing the EEP bit. Dancing is one of those things you should keep to yourself.

You aren't acutally installing it in an EEP folder you created are you?

Yes, I am, but that's because when I let the EEP do it itself, well, it didn't work.
Let's see what happens when I throw everything onto my D: drive. EU2 was on my D drive for a very long time without any problems. I should've never uninstalled it from there in the first place. *readies stuff for dance*

I don't think its a drive problem. It seems that EU2 isn't reading any of the EEP scenariod files and so that would seem like a sort of installation error.

Have you checked the path of the icon to ensure it is pointing where the game is actually installed?

I'm thinking about that too as if it was an install error it might not even run.

I had checked the path. I tend to look for the overly complicated reasons first, and miss the painfully obvious.

The install on D worked. Why, I don't know, because I didn't do anything different, but *eh*. I feel kind of stupid again, because I just did what I'd rip the head off of a customer for doing. Bug the people about it when it's inevitably something I was able to fix myself. Three years of tech support, and those calls were the ones to drive me nuts.

Well thats awful because now I want to know why. I definitely recall seeing this problem before, but I wish I knew what the solution had been. Oh well, glad to see it worked out.
