I would like to extend my thanks to the work put into Europa Universalis 4.

I for one never truly understood how to play EUIII, I guess maybe the interface confused the bajesus out of me. Things I would like to point out that really make this game interesting:

1. Choosing your ideas and how you decide to tech your nation truly gives a unique feel to your nation, sure there will be similarities but probably not identical.
2. The interface is really easy to understand and adapt to, the hints were very useful as well.
3. Colonization and trade in particular are a whole new ballpark(American idiom, you might now understand :p) Portugal and Venice are played very differently from say Austria or the Ottomans, although you do have the ability to change that if you so please.
4. I for one actually like the map, dont know what these other hardliners are talking about!
5. Many more to come as I discover more stuff!
6. Edit: Soundtracks!

I guess the best part is that this is only the demo. Too bad game release is on a workday

Agree in every word, except: "I for one never truly understood how to play EUIII", since I have played EU3 for thousands of hours, hehe. :)

After some hours with the demo, and reading every little bit of information about EU4 there is, there is no doubt in my mind that EU4 is the best game in the series and a true work of art. I look forward to every second of the thousands of hours I am going to play it for sure.

I totally agree. The game is great, I love the map and the new UI, just so much nicer and sleeker, the game feels more natural (ebb and flow anyone? xD), it's already my favorite Paradox game despite not having been released yet.

In the last days I dont comment but I look at the threads in the forum alot.

I see alot of haters but I want to tell you there are alot of people who really glad at the product (like me).

Great job guys, although please dont forget you have a bit more work to do.
The only complain I got for the game is one of the most comman I see here: Money is useless and the only reason to use it is for advisers... You made fun trade system - so let us make use of it.

I never really had a clue what I was doing in EU3. Inflation always screwed me over, I couldn't deal with the sliders and most of all I honestly didn't find it that enjoyable because of that. This glorious game on the other hand, I have already fell in love with. It's so much more intuitive then EU3, and by the end of my 5 hours with the demo I felt like I had a good grasp on the basic mechanics. Most of all, I was having a ball. I'm so happy for Ironman mode aswell, I have stopped playing CK2 because I have a crippling addiction to console cheating and save scumming. Ironman mode is going to make the game 10000x times more enjoyable for me. Thank you Paradox!

They gotta release the game on a work day so if something goes badly wrong they can fix it right away. If they release it on Friday, fixes gotta wait till Monday.

But I totally agree with your post. EU4 seems to be a major improvement over EU3 in every aspect.

I do sometimes end up with cash reserves, but generally when I maximize my forcelimits I cut it close in terms of what im earning on a monthly basis. But we shall see how things turn out on tuesday!

Edit: I had 800 ducats and spent 500 on converting Portugal to Protestant! muahahaha

When we play the full game from 1444 and need a long term strategy as well, you will see how usefull saving up some money is. If you too late can invest in your country and make use of the new buildings/ships etc. you will feel it. Money is actually more important then ever due to more costly reinforcements in war. The increased advisor cost is a way to invest money into science and all other things you need monarch points for. Much like money was used for science in EU3, but with alot more fun and opportunity costly mechanism. It will reward the player that has managed to develop his economy quite alot.
