Good start for learning the ropes with SWMH?

With VIET Immersion dead for the foreseeable future, I've decided to finally give SWMH a try. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the changes to the map, and I'm not really sure what other changes to expect. Is there a good start that will familiarise me with all the new features?

There aren't any gameplay changes as far as I know, but you could try the old Ireland start or Spanish start and get a feel of the map.

My current game was the first using SWMH and I chose Rurik of Holmgardr. You're stronger than the rest of the pagans around you, but most of them are allies with each other.

Ireland or Brittany are always fun starts. It's a little harder playing with HIP because of the high kingship of Eire and people trying to over throw you in Brittany but still easier than a lot of places. Play 1066 start or after TOG start is crazy sometimes with the sons of Ragnarr trying to kill all of Europe.
