If anyone needs any good sources for material, check out survey history books written either before or durring WWI. There seems to have been a craze for writing books with names like "Complete History of the World" at that time (they also have GREAT etchings inside if you like that sort of thing.) The presentation is usually an easy to read chronology, devided into geographic locations. Also, no event seemed too small to avoid being recorded.

The only thing to watch out for is the Euro-centric and supremicist bias that the writers at that time had against the non-european world. Especially fair treatment of muslums and American Indians.
(Wait, the game is called Europa Universalis , Maybe we shouldn't wory about being ethnocentric :D )
