I would like to do Viking playthrough with HIP overhaul mod. I see on Workshop there are some mods that have "HIP" in their title. Seem like some mods have been made compatible with HIP. However I am afraid to use other mod with HIP cause they might mess thing up.

What mods do you recommend to use with HIP? Is there list of HIP compatible mods somewhere? Some mods I am considering is:

Historical Events Pack HIP https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1741945522 Seems like good mod.

HIP - Historical Anglo Saxons https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1713863328 I am not sure if this needs to be updated or not? I am not sure if this mod is already included in HIP overhaul mod? The description does not say. Very confuse.

Cities of Wonders (HIP) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2019607681 This mod does not work with SWMH map I guess? I not understand description.

Cities of Wonders (HIP&SWMH) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2019620235 This is version that works with SWMH? This seem like good mod for have historical great cities like Constantinople.

The Orders of Chivalry https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1458844205 This mod adds Society for Christian Holy Orders like Teutonic Order, Templars, and Hospitaller. Something that is weirdly missing from vanilla game. This mod says it compatible with HIP. But it not updated since December 2019. Not sure if it work?

The Sufi Schools https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1509297746 This is Islam version of above mod. Not updated since May 2019. Not sure if work?

Historic Buildings https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1621508759 This mod adds historic Buildings and Great Works to certain cities. There is downloadable HIP compatibility patch in description. Not sure if this mod is compatible with Cities of Wonders mod? Not sure which to use for most historic game?

Unique Buildings (Updated, rework in progress) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=353936109 Not sure if this mod works with HIP?

Medieval Trade Routes (HIP map) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1800091840&searchtext=hip good mod?

A More Navigable Rivers HIP/SWMH https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1576450669&searchtext=hip good mod?

Caesar's Books - Immersive Artifacts [✔️HIP] https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1803695111&searchtext=hip good mod?

Caesar's Wonders - Immersive Great Works [✔️HIP] https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1829453519 good mod?

Code:
"Bigger Interface"
"Colored Buttons"
"High Kings and Consuls: A localisation mod"
"Hooni's Coat of Arms"
"Lost Content"
"New Immersive Events"
"VIET Events Reborn - A Flavor Event Mod"
 "Your Personal Castle"

Most of these use unique filenames, so they don't conflict with anything. Exception being Lost Content, in which I manually had to merge the affected files into my own personal submod (which also has a few tweaks here and there).

Generally speaking, I like using mods that don't conflict with any other mods. It makes life a little easier.

So you have actually tweaked Lost Content to make it compatible with HIP?

That's something I've been meaning to try my hand at for some time (see here) but I haven't gotten around to it yet, and I doubt I would be successful with my very limited CK2 modding knowledge.

Would you mind sharing your personal submod? Does Lost Content works well with HIP with your tweaks?

My personal submod has a lot of changes; nothing drastic, just little things to suit my own personal tastes. As an example, I pretty much overhauled all the traits, and the Status of Women laws. I also tweaked religions a little, but most of my modifications involve the AI's weighted logic when making choices during events and decisions.

I guess my point is, trying to isolate the Lost Content from my submod would very difficult. And I never intended to share my submod with the public. It also requires several other mods to function correctly.

But, if you want to take a crack at Lost Content, it's pretty easy. Get a good file merging program (I use WinMerge), and just compare the Lost Content folder against HIP. The program will show you which lines of code you need to copy over.

Only way to learn is to try. If I can figure it out, anyone can. :)

unique file names doesn't always mean they don't conflict. unless it's a completely new mechanic, it often happens that different mods with their unique file names touch the same variables inside, so it's important to properly organize your mod load as well.

How do you organize the mod load, by changing the name of the file/mod?

Okay I cannot believe no one has posted this mod yet, but check out the Norse Heritage Overhaul mod. I highly recommend it.

Also Patrum Scuta, of course
