Is this game a good game for those who don't need the complexity of CK2 or EU4?

I'd say yes :)

This game has some unique features like the victory mechanic to claim and hold the shogun title. The plots can be quite effective and give you some interesting challenge. My personal favorites are the Ikko-ikki rebels and the introduction and spread of arquebuses (which might be because I designed and implemented them ;))

It absolutely is the answer for me. I dont have a boatload of time, and what time I do have, I split between many hobbies, and many video games. Sengoku is *the perfect* paradox grand strategy game to play if youre short on time because you can learn it in a decent amount of time. There's also a great mod for Sengoku that helps balance gameplay out - http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?576172-Monumenta-Iaponiae-Historica-The-records-of-the-Japanese-History-between-1180-1600
