I must say you are quite lucky, though I don't see why you ceded a province.
I don't like long wars, especially with the WE from battles giving me revolt risk even in 'safe' provinces. Besides, it wasn't one of my provinces :p and I can't dip vassalize Novgorod.

good point but what was the province? Was it a rich province?

To end the war a different way, you could gave the enemy some ducats.

That's very nice of you giving away someone else's province to get out of a war. I'm sure your ally will understand ;)

Oh sure, but that would have come from my treasury! Besides, they weren't going to settle for just 25 ducats.

They should; they lost it themselves in the first Swedish war, I made Sweden return it in the second war, and then gave it to Moscow in this one.

Sounds rather fair to me... :D

'nother war, 'nother post. ;) BTW, I've noticed that some countries have agreed to an alliance with me, only to break it two weeks later for no apparant reason. No DoW's, no insults, nothing; just I offer, they accept, and then they break it.

Well, in any case, I was stuck on the mission to make friends with Sweden, so I waited for the truce to expire so that I could make them my vassal by DoW'ing them on 31 Dec (I enjoy doing that: it allows me to get war-enhanced census taxes with minimal WE). Oh, I forgot to mention: France offered me an alliance and I said OK.

So all went well as I stomped Sweden and their ally Moscow stomped my ally Novgorod. My mission, though, was cancelled as soon as I declared war, replaced by Defend Denmark. I paid up my stability to +1 and then made peace with Sweden leaving them with just Stockholm and being my vassal (which put my stab back to +3 and resetting my WE to 0).

I tried moving against Moscow, but even though my morale was better than theirs they had multiple 6k/6k stacks. Soon before I offered a peace demanding 75 ducats (with a WS of -1) they made some kind of peace with Novgorod that didn't involve territory, but I wasn't paying close enough attention to notice it.

My current mission is to get a RM with England, but they've said no a couple of time. And I currently have the option of becoming the Empire of Denmark. Who thinks I should take it?

You should definately go for the empire since it will allow your country to be more centralized without penalty, which is good in a game where rebels can really hurt you and centralization is a must. Besides empires are cool :D

I assume Denmark is a feudal monarchy in which case you trade 15 % land force modifier for .25 morale. Morale is good but so is a big army if you can afford to pay for it.

In the meantime, I played for a while and France and Castille/England went to war; I tried to get over to Iceland to start retaking it (Norway let the colonies die out, and England took the eastern province then Brittany took the western one), but England's fleet put an end to that hope. Fortunately Castille offered a white peace and I took it.

I forget what went on with my missions, but I ended up with Conquer Estland. After reading responses here, I made it the Empire of the Danes. Then TO must have had a mission to retake Osel or something, because they went to war with me. So they were with a Bohemia attempting to blob, and I had my vassals, France, Finland and Novgorod plus a Moscow which had warned them.

I managed to get Bohemia to release Meisen (a former ally of mine they had annexed in my first war), but they wouldn't give any cash on top of that. Moscow got away with Pskov before I was able to capture Estland. Pommerania helped me take everything up to Livonia, and Novgorod captured Ingermanland. So my demands were Danzig and Estland for myself, Ingermanland for Novgorod, the release of Riga (who somehow gained a core to the south), 75 ducats and giving up their core on Osel. And after 14 months of war taxes (1.0 + 1.4 WE) and various losses in battle or to attrition, my total WE was a mere 0.95 . :D

The AI Denmark got like maximum luck in my burgundy game, they inherited Sweden AND pommerania, they also got their hands on all of the teutonic orders provinces.

This was in 1420, 20 years of play.

The king must have died within a few days of game start; Sweden started insulting me within the first month, and had relations below zero by the begining of 1400. :( Even down to just their capital and as my vassal, they distrust me (of all people! ) enough to refuse an alliance.

And I guess I need to start writing notes; I don't remember now what has happened since my last post. :eek:o Who knows, maybe I haven't played since then (old age catches up fast, huh?).

Last night France went to war with Avignon (allied with a one-province (Antwerpen) Burgundy and two-province Savoy), so I accepted and raised war taxes. Netherlands declared on Burgundy and ate them. I just sat around watching, and after about 15 months France finally annexed Avignon, after taking Nice and vassalizing Savoy. England integrated what was left of Brittany. I've moved my fleet to Orkeny to be in a position to retake Iceland when the next war breaks out.
