Can anyone help me, i cant remember if Paradox usually use the "going Gold" declaration for their pc-games?
And how long is it usually between a game "going gold" and realease?
Anyone knows?

Think u need a certain reponse as in sales figures or such. Maybe u can check out other gaming sites.

Ermm...I don't really care if it goes gold or not, I just hope that the sequel is cheap and maybe comes with a nice poster, reader hand-book, maybe some HOI jokes and info about HOI 3, the progress and efforts made into it.

So exciting, can't wait.....

Cheers

Here I thank the CORE team also for their efforts to make the game come true. Great work!

The phrase simply means that the dev team has released the game for manufacturing. The time taken by manufacturing and distribution depends on the publisher and delivery companies, and therefore varies considerably.

They'd need to buy some more bandwidth first, right now they can hardly cope with the forum trafic, nevermind 2000 people trying to d/l a ~600meg game

Ironically, when I tried to reply to this the server was busy :p

Anyway, ways around this. Bittorrent! Yes, bittorrent uses almost no bandwidth server side (they can just stick it on a limit in any case) and the rest solves itself. More people want it? Easier it is to pass around. And to watch for paying, just add an IP blocker, and your IP is allowed in a timer when you log in after purchasing the game. God damnit, I just want the game sooner :D

Special box set

I seem to remember talk about giveing the first people to buy the game through the e-butik some sort of Special Package, say with a big map or something. If this is the case, I will definately buy and wait for the box rather than download.

It was already asked once how we (the devout) can make sure that Paradox gets the biggest chuck out of our purchase (e-butik). If they have additionaly ideas, like they save money through not having to package and ship if you buy and download, they ought to consider them and post them in the forums. I think that most people here would be more than willing to purchase in a way that supports PE.

That's bandwidthism, that is ... I'm still on good old dial-up ISDN ... serves all my needs, except downloading large files ... 600+MB ? That would cost me an extra 10 EUR ... and why should I be descriminated against simply because I support an out-dated technology ? :p

(*crossing fingers that I'll be able to move soon and become a DSLer myself*)

However if Paradox is doing the publishing for HoI2. Why not a pay download option? Much like Matrix Games. Would allow us dedicatedees quicker access :D

And what happens if you uninstall? Do you have to download again?
This is very interesting!!

This is very interesting!!

Well it would be either a self-installer or CD Images. Both of which you can keep on your hard drive or burn to a CD if you want to. Or download again I guess. Really it would be up to them how they do it. If you're worried about paying again, they would just have some kind of Key system when you pay the first time to get access to the bittorrent tracker or whatever method they would use to send it to people :)
