Ok, I'll be the first to say it: There was Xbox Game Pass for PC and Steam mentioned in the announcement trailer but there was no mention of GOG. Are we getting Victoria 3 on GOG?

I doubt it I waited for CK3 on GOG but just bought it today on Steam. Sad to see that they won't support putting their games on GOG recently.
Unfortunately, I don't know but it sucks. They made a lot of effort to bring some older games too and then they gave up it seemsThe worst thing is that they never gave any reason why they stopped releasing on GOG out of nowhere. First they didn't put new games there, yes, but that was simply because they were reliant on Steam for multiplayer. Their new titles, which utilize a separate third party multiplayer provider, started appearing on GOG. And then CK3 came out and it just hasn't been released on GOG.
Why?
Then how come Stellaris is in there? It is much later than CKII; do you mean CKIII instead?PDX formally abandoned GOG, permanently, not too long into Crusader Kings II. 99% of the user base was on Steam and maintaining the non-Steam version was consuming unjustified amounts of resources.
No, I mean CK2. Sometime after The Republic they announced they were cutting all future non-Steam support. I actually had CK2 on Gamersgate and they sent us all Steam keys after making the decision. Then how come Stellaris is in there? It is much later than CKII; do you mean CKIII instead?

Imperator is on GOG. Things change. In this case, twice, but the second time with no official word.PDX formally abandoned GOG, permanently, not too long into Crusader Kings II. 99% of the user base was on Steam and maintaining the non-Steam version was consuming unjustified amounts of resources.
theres always the obvious reasons: refunds and drm.
Steam is itself a form of DRM. PDX games on Steam may not have any additional form of DRM, but if they are in that platform, Steam itself makes sure that it will query for a valid key before allowing the game to run.Could you elaborate? I thought their games are generally DRM free and the Steam page doesn't dispute that. If CK3 has DRM, it would explain a lot and bring me closure.
(I am still holding out for a GOG release. Paradox, if you can hear this...)
Steam is only necessary to install PDS games. Not to run them. At least that was the case with the older PDS games on Steam.Steam is itself a form of DRM. Regarding V3 coming out for non-Steam platforms, our best bet is hoping that there will be an actual console version. This will necessitate the code base not to rely exclusively on Steam services, and that will allow the game to be offered on other platforms even for the PC.
Not at all; whenever CKII updated, I had to run it through the Steam launcher, or all the DLCs would be disabled complaining about keys. Once I had opened the app through Steam, I could close it and open it again running the PDX launcher executable directly. And the Steam overlay itself mentioned the eventual need of entering keys for the addons, though it seems that it has always been able to query Steam without my intervention.Steam is only necessary to install PDS games.
