PLEASE remove the ability of players to cheat in Multi-play. Time and time again, I have had HOURS wasted because a few assholes who have discovered the processs, and begin to move, retreat, disband, etc, your units when it suits them. Since players can change their name at will, it is all but impossible to track these asses. This HUGE bug is ruining the MP expierence for many players as more and more players do this. I now only play with trusted players, or HOI-PA players because of this. If we all did this, no one can find anyone to play MP.

Yeah, there's no bug as far as i see it, if you give mil control to others, then don't be surprised if he messes up your units.

Hey, i was only speculating he did'n acctually say he aproved military controll. He seems to be experienced player´.

And u are confronted by a pretty much large pop-up when asked.

Hard to miss though.. if u play the game from the start on not taking over somebody else slot in a game.

It was in the bug forum, but i moved it until we know exactly what the cheat is and if it's a bug or not.

I just quizzed Johan about this. He is aware of a "loophole" which might have this effect. It would be possible to do something about this in a revision of 1.06 but work on that isn't happening right now because Johan is working on CK/HoI2 during the day and summer evenings are more enjoyably spent doing other things. Perhaps Tomar's prize fund might be better dedicated to motivating Johan... :)

Tracking that "bug"

Well, I know that Johan is int this for the glory not the money :rofl:

But seriously if this loophole cant be closed we need a way to track or identify that someone is using it.... The "IC slider cheat" used to be a headache until we realized there is an easy way to see if somebody is using it....

This one seems to be more tricky.... Preventing it all together would be great, failing that we need to have a way of identifying with certainty that somebody is using it.

Failing that we will have a flurry of accusations flying round without a possibility to check whether they are founded or not.....

First, this is BUG, not an exploit of military control, and therefore, this thread belongs in the BUG forum. While it would be nice to have this fixed in 1.06, Johan has confirmed that it shall be fixed in HOI 2.

As for detection, extremly difficult if the cheater is subtile about it. However, since most types of players who cheat are bad players to begin with, they have to cheat everywhere to prevent loosing, and it is soon apparent what is going on. However, this normally only happens after hours of game play has passed.

Disable the "cheat mode"

Another idea.... is there a way for the host to disable this "cheat mode" for all players ?

and what about the game log ? does it say anywhere something like "cheat mode enabled for country xxx" ? (or something similar, you get my drift )

It's a very irritating bug, and really should be a priority to fix I'd think. I've seen it used on many occasions, now it's fairly easy for me to recognize. Cheating in a game is totally pointless, only people who have no self-esteem or a modicrum of brains would bother- it serves absolutely no use to cheat.

First a wanna defend Paradox. There is nothing like a secure system, there always gonna be lopp-holes. Espesially since it is half-open system using text files for saves and configurations. One hasn't to Einstein to figure out how to cheat.

Now what keeps me playing is that what i think most of does when playing strategy games is that you wanna replay history events and simulate diffrent outcome of a war. After a while you get bored how AI react it's to linear and predictable.

Since you want the REAL CHALLENGE you begin to play MP against other humans. In the beginning i think it is easy to fall into the temptation like reading saves to figure out what other are up to. But it is my belif that that gonna fade away after a few games.

Some may cheat to get the attention, or sensation or the repution to discover a loop-hole. They get caught just by the simple fact that they wanna get caught.

Other do subtile things thats hard to discover even by a experinced player. My belif is though.. if i know a player has been playing MP games for a while, the more the better, i also know he is looking for the ultimate challenge and then less likely to fall into temptation to cheat.

Even in SP i imagne one get bored using cheat codes after a while.

Those who want to play safe can register on sites like PA. Just for the fact it register how many games you have played. More games also means you have more to loose if somebody else find out you have been cheating.

So i don't find there really is a need to fix this loop-hole. If you wanna cheat there are a lot ways to do so. Better to spend time on developing the new HoI 2 :rolleyes:

i agree. the best way to avoid cheats is to avoid cheaters. credibility is stronger than anti-cheat adjustments to the game.

I don't want this to turn into some kind of sport..

Why is Microsoft more often attacked by hackers than Linux system?

Don't say you have a full prof system, it's only gonna inspire folks to get credit they break it.

Do the oposit leave it open, then no sport. The challenge is the game instead. And if i know a player has been around for a while. I still say thats the best way to say he is not a cheater.

Uh, what bug/exploit??? I see people talking about it, but no one explained what it exactly is...


One person mentioned assuming military control, but its not a problem obviously, the original poster said something about god-mode, but you cannot use console in mp games!

Or is it different with godmode command? (or fullcontrol command, that is)
