It's a reference to a quote by Augustus.
The Arabian Peninsula could be interesting, that's the only reason why I might buy it. I find Europe boring during that period. And what a logic you have: why should I then buy EU4 and play as a non Muslim country as an example?dude i know why you hate it .
thats the jahiliya period for you where everyone was living in darkness and worshiping stones . i know a lot about you to know why you hate the antiquity and everything before the rise of the green flags .
i have a freind who refused to play ck2 just because of that C word in it . he was offended by the name of the game because he was from the " opposite religion" . he also didnt like talking about antiquity . you feel that this time period is not intresting because to you the jahiliya periodin general is not something worthy to care about . this was the reason you didnt care about the pyramids until the french came out .
romans are demonised on the books and this game is about rome . the pagans are demonised and this game is about pagans .
my advice is to stop being hostile to what the others like . you already got +30 dislike from 3 messages only . if you hate this time period because of cultural and religious reasons feel free to not buy it but for god sake stom poisoning our mood with messages .
Why would Christians buy a game about non Christians and play as pagans? (which is what the Greeks and Romans were in their glory days). The Arabian Peninsula could be interesting, that's the only reason why I might buy it. I find Europe boring during that period. I can guarantee you that my disinterest for the antiquity has nothing to do with my religious belief. Yes, at the end it is a game. Why would Christians buy a game about non Christians and play as pagans? (which is what the Greeks and Romans were in their glory days).
It's fiction, escapism. A game. It is no challenge to one's faith what so ever.
That's fine, I was simply replying to your statementI can guarantee you that my disinterest for the antiquity has nothing to do with my religious belief. Yes, at the end it is a game.
which implies your disinterest IS based on your religion.why should I then buy EU4 and play as a non Muslim country
Pops and Characters - looking interesting
I finally bought the V2 expansions on Friday hoping for V3 soon - but this has made me happy - going to have dig all my old history books out of my parents loft !!!
No they solved that by the use of an always positive (in the game) AVC system which set years 0 to the creation of the city of rome.

You don't want to understand it. It is nothing cultural (religious), do I have to love the history of every period in every place? No. Period. What is the problem with that? I don't care if Rome had Arab emperors. You think it is because I have no connection to the Romans, that's why I don't like Rome, you think too complicated, the reasons are very banal. Classical antiquity is boring in my opinion, the time before (Iron Age, Bronze Age, Chalcolithic, Neolithic and even the Paleolithic human history) is interesting and the time after the antiquity is interesting.maybe you should just be more freindly thowards cultures like me and enjoy games instead of restricting yourself on 1 only .
dont be like my freind who have refused to play ck2 just because of the word "crusader" in it .
and just to remember you rome had north a north african and arabic emperors as well and LOT of berbers and many arabs have served rome .
its not just our cultures we mediteraneans from both shores but its your culture and heritage as well ( in case you are from arabia ) .

Marcus Julius Philippus, known by his nickname, "Philip the Arab", Roman Emperor for about five years in the third Century. He was born in Arabia Petrea. It was during his reign that Rome celebrated the thousandth year since it's (mythical) founding.Which emperors were Arab?

I agree. A family clique would be more fitting (and only logical) for tribalistic states too.Have they clarified whether you are going to be leading a people, as in EU/Vicky/HoI or a familial clan, as in CK?
If you are just the eternal Imperator leading your people, it will take a lot of the fun out of internal power struggles and alliances that were just as common as battles between states.
Example: Marius vs Sulla -- who was the "rebel faction" when both were elected consuls?
It could be just as much fun (if not more) to plot a Junii-led rebellion against Julius Caesar for control of Rome, than to play as Caesar managing rebellious factions.
Similarly, the Triumvirate periods will be less fun if you are somehow above and apart from the actual characters, trying to prevent a civil war, rather than as one of the Triumviri, trying to maintain an alliance with or plotting to overthrow the other two.

i might be wrong about you because you might simply dont care about about rome ? maybe i just mistaken you with the history lovers who love islamic history but when it comes to the pre islmaic arabia or north africa they just assume it was nothing but a place full with pagans and with nothing that might interest us .I agree. A family clique would be more fitting (and only logical) for tribalistic states too.
