Carthago Delenda Est !

I respectfully disagree.
But only because I can't disagree BY TRAMPLING WITH MY WAR ELEPHANTS!
Also, the game sounds awesome!
Can't wait to humiliate Rome as Carthage!

True, and that map definitely is correct for 303 BC. But the opening post does state you can play from the "Glory days of Athens", which 303 BC is definitely not. I wouldn't be surprised (if the "Glory days of Athens" part is true) for a 453 BC/300 AUC start, or thereabouts.
And if we're going to use AUC, why not go whole hog and use the full Roman calendar, and call the date Kal. Ian. CDL AUC? Because I want to see people unfamiliar with the calendar to try to figure out what date a.d. X Kal. Mart. is, or, even more fun, deal with the intercalary month of Mercedonius!
Johan already CONFIRMED that the start date is 450 AUC. No disucssion needed.
Also as said: The engine can't handle thr transition from BC to AD
Kaiserin Merkel would agree.Well, they need to remove that "Glory days of Athens" part then, as it's over a 100 years too late. It's like saying we're currently living in the glory days of Imperial Germany!![]()
Not only is it the Ides of March, but it is also the day of the Assassination of Julius CeasarStill the ides of march would be very appropriate for a release of a Rome game.
Hopefully neither but hopefully more of the former and less of the latter.so is this CK2: Rome edition or EU4: Rome edition?
Screw taking over Rome, the ancestral homeland must be retaken. Tyre belongs to the Phoenician people.I respectfully disagree.

Probably directly for the time being but hopefully here will be a migration era game in between eventually. From the pics, the game looks absolutely beautiful but the most important question is whether or not it will be possible to play a mega campaign from 304 bc. Only issue I could see is how it could be transferred from antiquity to the medieval era in ck 2.

What we think of as “western civilization” was not guaranteed. Imagine Alexander’s empire centralized under one successor. Italy might never have been unified under Roman rule, strangling a juggernaut in its cradle. A world without Caesar. Now you can explore these alternate histories in Imperator: Rome.

The masters of historical strategy have returned to the days of legions and legends. Paradox Development Studio is happy to announce Imperator: Rome, an upcoming grand strategy game set in the classical world from the glory days of Athens to the establishment of the Roman Empire four centuries later. Rule any nation on the most detailed Paradox map ever stretching from the Pillars of Hercules to the far reaches of of India, allowing you to build an empire to dwarf that of Alexander. Govern republics or monarchies, balancing the factions, and keeping the loyalty of your most capable generals.
Imperator: Rome’s features include:
- Character Management: A living world of characters with varying skills and traits that will change over time. They will lead your nation, govern your provinces and command your armies and fleets. We also introduce our new, more human-like character art.
- Diverse Populations: Citizens, freemen, tribesmen and slaves - each population with its own culture and religion. Whether they fill your armies, fill your coffers or fill your colonies, keep an eye on their happiness - your success depends on their satisfaction.
- Battle Tactics: Choose your approach before battle to counter the stratagems of your foes.
- Military Traditions: Each culture has a unique way of waging war. Romans and Celts have different options available to them. Unlock unique bonuses, abilities and units.
- Different Government Types: Manage the senate in a Republic, hold your court together in a monarchy, answer to the clans in a tribal system.
- Barbarians and Rebellions: Migrating barbarians may sack or settle your best land, while disloyal governors or generals can turn against you - taking their armies with them!
- Trade: Goods provide bonuses to their home province. Will you take advantage of stockpiles for local strength or trade excess goods to spread the wealth around?
- Provincial Improvement: Invest in buildings, roads and defences to make your kingdom stronger and richer.
Imperator: Rome is scheduled for a 2019 release.
Welcome to the forums ! Generally there's a great bunch of people here.Just signed up to say I'm super hyped for this! I'm a big fan of Rome and the Classical period. I have one question though: On the page it says "Subscribe to claim the Imperator: Rome themed forum avatars and forum icons" but I don't see when I go to the avatar page. Are you only able to use them once the game is out?
maybe its because you didnt understand the teasers in the first place .Soooo... In what way Rome II is "popular demand" game? It's not that much more popular than Sengoku to declare it "popular demand" choice. Popular demand would've been either Vic III or Paradox Fantasy Strategy. Rome is waaaaay too obscure choice.
Essentially - teaser lied.
Yeah, there's a footnote that the rewards get given out at release unless otherwise stated.Just signed up to say I'm super hyped for this! I'm a big fan of Rome and the Classical period.
