So... I was having fun playing the Portuguese empire and decided to go Macau my day. I've failed to get it to fire. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Screenshot and game file attached. Thanks!

Doesn't the capital have to be located in Macau? Also, how did you pull it off? I kinda wanna try myself.
Yes, but my capital is Macau - here's a closer in shot from earlier. As to how I did it, here's a brief outline - but it didn't work for me so....
1. Form United Kingdom of Brazil and Portugal. Early 1938
Got the third research slot first then reformed the army to get manpower then b-lined the Empire of Brazil focus. This creates a civil war, but it's easy to win using naval invasions.
2. Invade Spain as soon as the civil war ends. Late 1938
Use the Remember Olivenca then with the fascist threat focus to get a wargoal on them, so you can take them the minute the civil war ends once all their units are gone.
3. Form collaboration govt in Macau
You should get the message at some point in 1939 (or the option in the list).
3. Attack China - 1st time. Early 1940 start - finish mid 1941.
Done by justifying on the Guanxi Clique once world tension is high enough. Build up port in Macau and naval invade from Portuguese Timor as well. Peace conference will suck because you won't be able to take that much, and you can only take thing in your puppet's name (more expensive). I got the Guanxi Clique territory.
4. Attach China - 2nd time. Early 1943 - finish 1946 (argh)
Attacked China/Japan and all its puppet in 1943. Logistics headache, but relatively easy. Then Japan naval invaded me all over the place again and again and again, until I'd destroyed 6mm troops. Naval supremacy to get to Taiwan was what took for ever (massive number of TAC bombers to sink their fleet in the end is what I needed). Also had to take Japan because the Raj sneakily took Yarkand in North West china. Peace conference was a doddle.
BUT THAT DIDN'T TRIGGER the event. Hmm...
Unfortunately not. I've heard it's not needed, but I tried continuing, and declared war with the brits to take HKG, but it didn't work.
EDIT: seems it is, but I need to do it in a peace deal so back to the drawing board. Thanks.

Hongkong is needed and in your picture it's still part of the UK. There is a video on youtube from FBG and there you can see that you need Hongkong. It works only if everything is given to Macau in the peace deal.

Thanks! Darn, it means I need to rethink my strategy to defeat the UK before 1941... Argh Argh Argh. Oh well. Thanks again.
I've done it by taking out UK in May/June 1940. Next was Japan and the last step was China.
Thanks. Now done. Had to restart and join Axis, which I hate doing. It made the achievement relatively easy in the end - completed in October 1942. AI UK and Japan are just terrible at defending their homelands.
Yeah. The hard part with the UK is getting across the channel. Once you land in force, it's all over but the crying. Japan's about the same.
Congratulations! I hope you avenged your King and took back Malaya and the East Indies from the interlopers? The spices are rightfully yours!
