It makes it essentially impossible for me to GM, as I generally only know if I'll be free a week out from when I'd run a game. Although I've only been free to GM a couple of times since Magical Mystery Tour, so it hasn't really made much difference...
Wait, what happened in the Lite in question?
Arkasas decided he doesn't care anymore after signing up and instead of subbing out decided to vote and kill himself as a villager.
I think that this list is just a nuisance that creates a situation wherein players who *might* be able to GM in several weeks are forced to sign up "just in case" they are able to GM. In order to hasten the death of this terrible system, I suggest that we all ignore the list and return to the previous system wherein GM spots were reserved not weeks, but days, in advance.
The ONLY problem we're having right now is that too many people want to GM. If there were only 3 people on the list, no-one would complain, but since we've got 10 names on it...
So maybe (I think I said it earlier) we should have the next 3 games fixed and the rest just as a pool of interested people. Game starts and all GMs in the pool can put themselves forward for what is now the third empty slot.
Helpful.Or MAYBE, we go back to the system we *know* works.

Well, does it though? By your own admission, you GM'ed every second game at some point. Clearly, there is an interest in GMing, so isn't a list more fair?
The list as it is now is fine, isn't it? If someone can't GM when it's their turn, they can just ask to be skipped over, or swap with someone further down the line. What's the issue?
Good idea. Although I don't think a 3 name list would be needed in that case. We just have a pool of potential GMs and once the new game started we would start on the long and difficult task of figuring out who goes next. That way we can pick out someone who wants to GM and have them ready to start a new game as soon as the previous one ends but also give people a fair chance to put their name forward. So maybe (I think I said it earlier) we should have the next 3 games fixed and the rest just as a pool of interested people. What exactly is hard to understand about if you have more people than spots, then having a day or two for first come takes is not a fair distribution system? How exactly is this system different from not having a list at all? Except that, of course, you have to add your name to a list to be among the "potential GMs" instead of every player being there.
You know what? Screw this list. I'm hosting the next Lite. What are you gonna do about it? Sue me?
