However if you do reconquest and still use "give back cores" in the peace deal instead of giving directly the province to your vassal, you won't get AE (but will pay the diplo cost).
For which you don't need a reconquest CB. A reconquest CB in the name of a vassal doesn't even reduce the cost in any way, hell the war score is going to be higher since return core isn't modified by local autonomy.

Yep, to return cores (and pay DIP cost) you could use any other CB.
So while I agree with need to balance things (due to vassal claiming and using vassal's CB) I think that reconquest in the name of vassal is broken.
