Hi all,

Could some one inform me what the benefits are to giving counties or baronies to a Holy Order as of 2.5.2 (I don't have Conclave). I seem to remember in past versions it didn't do much other than raise the grandmaster/hochmeister's opinion of you a bit... are there any tangible gameplay benefits to this course of action?

If a Holy Order is landed, it will have claimants. If you land someone with a claim to the order, you can press that claim, and when you win, you gain the Holy Order as a vassal. Then, only you can raise them. So says the wiki, haven't been able to find anyone with a decent claim to press yet :/

This does not seem to be entirely correct, at least not from my experience. Others can raise them too. When Jerusalem vassalizes the Knights Hospitaller, they are still not available to you at all times, fighting a holy war here and there. The main difference is that you don´t pay upkeep for them however, so you can just keep them raised indefinitely.

Finding someone with a claim is difficult enough, getting them in your court is nigh on possible because 1) their members are celibate, so marriages won´t work and 2) they have the "found my calling" modifier, blocking invitations.
