Giving concessions to coalitions remove AE, this that WAD?

I am playing a WC attempt as France just now.
Trying the old trick of becoming emperor. I vassalized 2 electors and the emporer himself in a war (Saxony).
Naturally I got a coalition half of size of europe against me after that and with the allies of the coalition it was pretty much all of europe.

So I settled a peace for about 75% warscore. Released some french minors, let Tyrone and Aachen go as vassal.

After that POOF all AE was forgotten completely.

Is that WAD?

I have noticed this too. It was like this at release, then, I thought, removed around 1.4 or 1.5 and now is back. Although I can't tell you for sure when it returned. Either in 1.8 or 1.7
