I started a GC game as Hannover, and I soon noticed that my armies of size 80 were thrashed by armies of size 5 frequently. Ok fine I then started over and this time gave Hannover a rating of 8 for military.

Yet i still lose to armies of size 5 vs my 80.

So I conclude that this is because I have no leaders whatsoever, just the 'colonels' you get every time you form an army.

Now, to make it more realistic, how could I edit my leaders to get some decent military leadership and getting more realistic battle efficiency?

With patch 1.06 Hannover got 7 leaders (none of them appearing before 1611, though). You can add more to the leaders.han file, but You have to be carefull not to use any ID´s already in use (up to 2400 at the moment).

Ok so I suppose I'd change this:

historicalleader = {
id = { type = 6 id = 2281 }
category = general
name = 'Georg Lüneburg'
startdate = {
year=1611
}
deathdate = {
year=1641
}
rank = 0
movement = 3
fire = 2
shock = 3
siege = 1

or copy it rather, give a diffent name and the start/death year of my choice right?

So about the ID's you meant his name right? So to be safe I think I'll call him something like : Igor von Bismark :)

Now I assume this wont work on the savegame right now, or will it?

I was thinking of creating a leader, with my name and that has got the best stats and so on...he lives from 1492 to 1792..
Is this do-able??

You can change anything you like in the leader files, in terms of names and capabilities (ranging 1-6 in each category).
The id however is not referring to the name but to the id number of a particular leader.
If you add any, you need to make sure they're unique.
That is why Hartmann said.
As to adding a general with perfect stats for a 300 year timespan, yes you could do that too, but the game wouldn't be any fun anymore that way.
If you want to play a game where you can just blast anything and anybody in sight, I'd say EU is not the game for you.
