I don't know how people deal with the micro of x5 planets.

Life-seeded runs. They are really fun and actually competitive in 2.2 and hunting for good Gaia's can be quite rewarding and worth starting wars over.

Terraforming is still bugged on the beta despite the patch notes so it is depressing when you find really nice regular 20-25s that will get ruined when you convert them.

Just hope they aren't only viable because of how bad the AI is.

I play on x2 normally, I feel like the game is just much much more fun with more planets, the problem is it also means its gonna be slower and conquering the AI takes a lot longer so "winning" a game takes more time as you need to own 40% of all habitable planets so the more planets you have the longer it takes to achieve that.

Check victory conditions next time you are in game :) you might be a little surprised to find those 40% things completely gone :) it takes exactly as long as you want it to take...

No its not gone its still there. The time victory is BS, I hate those in every game. Its so anti-climactic. I want a proper end to the game after all those hours spent.

That’s defeating the crisis, that’s the denouement. I don’t see how ticking over to owning 40% of planets is exactly climactic either. The victory conditions are better now than previously, but still not really worth worrying about. The game is over when it feels over. The ‘win’ is whatever you want it to be.

completely agree had a 0.05 habitability mod and thanks to the event spawns it still kinda felt like too many planets were available like easily 15 planets within proximity of my starting planet (in like first 30-40 systems surveyed) the game has so horrible UI and such horrible lag i am really suprised devs didnt reduce teh amount of planets to hide these issues themselves instead even kidna forsinng players to play with way too many planets

Yeah that's why half my playthroughs are abandoned lol...the game needs some better win-conditions, things like culture/science victory like in Civ could work or alternative projects like the giant portal to another galaxy, and other things.

PS - The reason 40% is more climactic is because generally its a result of a war or vassalizing another empire that you get it. Last playthrough I won before the crisis because I vassalized almost everyone else.

Put those resources into building more alloys. There are always more uses for alloys, especially with an impending crisis. Why produce so much food? The amount you're dumping onto the market it's likely near worthless. Fill up your starbase cap with anchorages, build many battleships and then keep building them.

I aim to build my allow income up towards +1000 in the 2300s to fuel the mass construction of gateways, battleships, and megastructures. Or you could mass produce food you have no apparent use for and sell it for as little as possible.

I have a ecumonopolis that is made only for alloys. The population there has been growing for the past 100 years steadily which is increasing my alloy production at a good pace. You could argue that I need a bit more though. I'm already at the 4th stage of my dyson sphere by the way. Maybe I should built a 5th fleet. That would put my alloys to good use and will need more.

The food is from purging : ) My food economy is rather balanced.
