I'm playing as King of Wales (started Duke of Gwynedd).

Buzzing along OK, keeping the line alive just barely (lots of minors succeeding to the throne). I get my bishop elected pope, but because of the bug, I don't get Controller status. Fine, whatever. The papacy stays in the family until FINALLY I get to be Controller. Yay, right?

Well, now every bishopric that is vacant, I supply the bishop from my ranks of courtiers. No big deal since we all have so many useless hangers-on. Just "Ecclesiastical Education" them and watch them become bishops.

So I'm 6 generations in (tail end of 1100s), my king lives past 25 for once and I get a gaggle of sons. Time to relax.

Bishopric opens in Bergenshus. Who does the Pope--my Pope--take? My OLDEST SON AND HEIR, 4 YEARS OLD WITH NO ECCLESIASTICAL EDUCATION.

So now I have no control over my son as he's a vassal of the King of Norway. Plus, he won't ever get married as a priest, so even if he inherits, it might be too late to continue the direct line. I have 3 other sons and 3 royal brothers, so the dynasty as a whole isn't in jeopardy, I just find this highly annoying.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. The Pope takes everyone from your court as new bishops, not just people with ecclesiastical education, which is surely a bug. On the bright side, when your son inherits you, he'll bring his bishopric along with him as a county.

OK, good news then. I was hoping it was something like that.

Then my only other issue is the no-marriage thing for my juvenile priest...
