Gifting divisions to both my ally Communist China, and my puppet Manchuko (2 armoured divisions and 3 mech divisions) the deploy as soon as they get them and as soon as the next day arrives I get a disaster message that all the divisions were wiped out due to lack of supply.

I've tried giving them supplies, oil, money, you name it and each time the result is the same. However when i gift 5 divisions to my other puppet north Korea, they are fine.

I'm playing with a mod that allows me to build infrastructure in puppeted provinces and I do have those places all at 80+ infra, so I dont think it is that problem. Any ideas?

One thing i'm noticing is that Communist China's Capital is Ya'an (mountain), Manchuko is in Mukden (desert) and the North Koreans in Pyonyang (plains) could it be the attrition is wiping them out? if so i guess this is a bit of a bug.

By 'gifting' I presume you have sent them via trade negotiation - not as an expeditionary force. That means they need both MP and IC allocated to reinforcing - could explain the difference between allies?

However I thought that in AoD they stayed in the redeployment pool for 60 days - so cant explain why you get a message the next day :(

the commies did it probably far more.

And fascism and nazism aren't the same thing. ;)

Also why do "gifted" divisions go to 1% strength, what is the point of that option if it only brings disadvantages?

This may be a bug in some AI switch files, those were intended to set max reinforcment to 20 or 30% of IC but instead they set it to 2 or 3%. I think I reported this as possible error for AoD 1.04 as I found this dring Core development - countries like HUN, BUL or ROM failed to properly reinforce their units.

\Arsenal of Democracy\ai\switch
->minor_upg_peace.ai and minor_upg_war.ai
Both files need to have their
Code:
reinforcement = value
modified by moving the cursor behind this command and hitting Enter. Then save the files. These files do not have an immediate effect, only if they are called by an AI event file. To have an effect in a running game you have to edit your savegame, find the reinforcment string in the savegame and look for those with 0.02 and 0.03. They need to be changed to 0.2 and 0.3 respectively.

If AoD was affected by this behaviour like Armageddon was then these minor countries would now allocate far more to reinforce their units and this should also keep newly arriving low-strength units from disappearing.

I have found recently some minor bugs with incorrect province ids because I was looking especially for province ids, but that was quite easy compared to what you've done. Thank you very much! :)

Aye, it's a bit weird. But then again, if Germany permanently sends Spain an infantry division, would the Germans in the unit go along? No. The equipment is still there, but the Spanish have to use their own men to man it. Since apparently by this logic strength only represents manpower, it gets even weirder with divisions like ARM, MEC, MOT or aircraft etc. Ships however don't lose any strength when being gifted to another country.

Honestly I think PDox just didn't think this through properly when they made the feature.

It took not really long to find these files (as only minor nations were affected) but it was hard to understand why these correctly looking commands did not work as intended. Some time later I marked the text and saw a missing Enter at the end of the last line. A comparison with Armageddon 1.3b2 files showed they had this Enter so I just tried it and voila.

Well, historically, when Germany initiated Operation Barbarossa, Spain sent a whole division (the Blue Division or División Azul) of around 18,000 men. So I guess the game could limit the amount of divisions sent at full strength depending on the two countries political ideologies (e.g. a National Socialist country could give a maximum of 5 land divisions to another National Socialist state.) With this limit decreasing as the political ideologies move further and further away.

Note that I said permanently. The Spanish division was more like what would in-game be an expeditionary force (it should be possible to send units as exp.forces. to non-allied countries IMO - at least if they're similar in ideology). IIRC Azul was withdrawn by Franco after the Germans lost the Battle of Stalingrad.

Yeah you're right, but many Spaniards still fought for Germany after Azul was withdrawn. So perhaps not full strength divisions as gifts but certainly not 1%!
