As the UK, do you guys think 10 landforts in Gibraltar would:

1) be sufficient in holding off German attacks should they crash through/ally with Spain.
2) be worth the trouble and cost?

It's worth the trouble for sure if you hold it. But it can still be bombed you need lvl10 airport and AA guns. Getting the infra to 100% is very good to for the org of any planes and troops and rebuilding the forts/AA. Infra only cost 1 ic to so.

If you hold it as UK and Germany takes Spain he will be forced to leave a force of at least 24 divs that would have been used against SU otherwise. I always get more airfields south of gibraltar as well(Marocco) to help in the air fight.

In my opionion, As Phad points out, if you CAN control the Air then by all means attempt it. But any Smart German player will overrun Gibralter in a matter of time.

To me Trying to defend Gibralter = Sunk Convoys, Dead Troops, Wasted IC on Forts Airfields etc (that the Germans will capture).

Villa Cisenero and Gran Canaria are probably more worth whilst objectives, Given that by holding those you ensure the Security of Cassablanca when the Event fires.

If your German player doesn't have a clue then by all means dump 60 Brigaded units there and Drain his MP :)

One other thing....

1 V missle = No Forts.

And for the Price of your 10 forts the Germans can probably build 50 - 100 missilies.

V1 can't SR to a allies airport so the spain will be have to be conquered by Germany. 3-4 V1s get the infra to 0 to

So the better response would then be to move on the islands south of Gibralter, and harass German/Spanish forces?
What about the feasibility of taking Bordeux and cutting off the German invasion force, should they choose war rather than allying Spain?

If germany allys spain the airfields in spain won't be built up and stay on lvl 1-2, so then germany will never get air superiority in spain if UK defends it with it's air. I think war with spain is preferable because that.

If Spain falls or joins the Axis then if the Axis really want Gibralter, IT WILL FALL.

You can hold Gilbralter but it will come at a cost, you need armour , mountain troops, level 10 forts, level 10 aa, level 10 radar at least 50 permanent divisions stationed there--god knows where they would fit in real life. Also you must to have sea domination, air superioty in the region to compete and you must have fresh troops to roll in and out as required if the axis launch rotating attacks. You can sail frsh troops into Gilbralter as the battle rages and retreat exhausted divisions to ships. You need to hold Morrocco.

What you got to weigh up is the cost of the defense in regards to Seal lion and other African possesions like eygpt. Most people take the easy option of keep the med open an try an hold Suez. After all if your forces to retreat from gilbralter thats a lot of dead armies for the UK.

Give that forts , AA, radar and infra can all be reduced by attacks and air planes is there really any value in trying to defend a dead end?
