What worries me is that Paradox just doesn't care. For example, in the latest stream about the map(I Think) someone commented saying that Gibraltar was oversized, but Matt just defended it, saying "Well the English pretty much had control over that region anyways."

They wish they had control all over cadiz or even La Linea for that matter. THEY WISH. What a full nonsense

Who's Matt ?

One of the developers, known for his habit of describing things as happening within the confines of something, to say the least.

What about if the really tiny provinces, such as Gibraltar and the tiny islands in the Pacific had there own map mode which would bring up a much more enlarged version of it on the map?

I assume that the game would still have other map modes like supply or revolt risk. So why not add a map mode that would bring up a 'call out' box with an enlarged image of the small province and the surrounding area. That way you can select and army, switch to the map mode, and then plan the assault on this very small province.

I think this could bridge the gap between the people who want to have a 'call out' box and those who want the main map to stay clutter free.

So I've been lurking on these forums for a long time, and I like the community because they are usually more civilized and mature than most of the internet, but I've honestly been pretty disappointed with the recent discourse on the forums. Discussion is practically never a bad thing but it can't be that hard to be civil despite the minor differences you have.
Here's a list of things that I think are okay:
1. Pointing out things you don't agree with.
2. Making suggestions on how it could be changed.
3. Saying the game is still in development and is subject to change.
4. Making valid counterpoints to suggestions that you disagree with.
5. Making your frustration with devs and game decisions clear and saying you're not going to buy the game because X reason.
6. Being civil about these things!
Things that aren't okay:
1. Demanding that things be changed because you don't like it.
2. Ridiculing/demeaning people for making suggestions.
3. Writing in all caps and giant text.
4. Spamming your "suggestions."
5. Misrepresenting people's opinion to rile them up or dismiss their opinion.
6. Using charged, incendiary or hyperbolic language.
7. Being an idiot without manners.

EDIT
Very well said and a fitting end to this thread- Had a dad
