Looks like Great Britain had annexed the whole province of Cadiz somehow.

It's only the distortion in modern maps that makes Gibraltar appears small. In reality it's the same size as Nebraska and Rhode Island combined - true fact.

Gibraltar has an area of:
6.8 km2 or 2.6 sq mi.

Rhode Island has an area of:
3140 km2 or 1214 sq mi

so Rhode island is almost 500x the size of Gibraltar (462x).

i know you were kidding though, just didn't want anyone to take you seriously.

Yep. In hoi3 it was 1/4 the size of this and in EU4 it was half the size of this. They should really make it atleast half as big. I understand the problems with a too small province, but that's a bit ridicoulus.

Are you serious? i mean, i think is completly useless to have it THAT big. It seems there are provinces mid germany that are way smaller than gibraltar in the map. Where is then cadiz? in Huelva? i feel sick just to watch that image. Im sure it doesnt need to be THAT big to be useful in a gameplay sense.

Its more important to have a bigger than necessary province than actually having a real provice that is being completly cut off the game? wow, way to go paradox.

It's like that for gameplay purposes, its not accurate for a reason (if it was, you would barely be able to see Gibraltar, let alone click on it).

Same reason why the English channel is wider than it is in reality - gameplay purposes.

Do you people ever stop bitching!?!

No, i will not because i actually feel insulted with that unecessary huge zone. Im pretty sure you can have a zone like 1/4 the actual size without losing actual provinces AND having a good gameplay. Where is cadiz? its a very important military and strategic dock for Spain.

yeah make gibraltar its actual size and have buildings and units stand in the province next to it. Have it be so small you cant even click it.

/sarcasm off

From a gameplay PoW you can either have gibraltar be large (im not saying it might not be possible to make it smaller than the devs have made it and still have units etc. inside it.) or you can decide not to have gibraltar as a province. The latter is definitely better for gameplay.

Or just have it as a single province with still enough space to have "El Peñón" and units without actually annexing Jerez, Cadiz or whole campo de gibraltar even. Why is two provinces???? as someone living next to it i feel extremely disturbed.

The believe one point in having a sufficiently large province is so that you don't go mad and start serving Nyarlathotep in trying to select the province if there's a unit standing there. Halving that province's size looks like it might do just that.

I dunno if it could be better represented with a "zoom-in box". It's what most map does when trying to represent small (semi)island that are important but to small to show up.

I haven't foud a good reference, but you should get the idea with this :

Wow thats actually the best idea ive seen ever with that problem. Although im sure it wont be possible in HOI 4, its a very good idea. I think a single province will be enough in hoi 4 tho

I for one would rather not have big discontinuous boxes on my world map, with units standing notably off-set from the real location. Much better then to pretend that a province-shaped box superimposed over some land mass (or sea in the case of islands) like the current design, represents a zoomed in view of the area.

As long as a larger, zoomed in province does not get weird access to land or sea provinces all seems fine. In this case for example Gibraltar should really only neighbor one land province IMO ( the border is around one km wide IIRC).

I like provinces big enough to click on. One of the major annoyances from HOI3 (and any other PDX game) was trying to click on the province underneath a pile of units/other BS. I can appreciate may of the intentional distrotions of the map.

If you want a MapSim, I hear Google has something you might like.
