Hi guys,

First off sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place! I didn't see a forum for help with this, so I shall post here.

I recently got Hearts of Iron 2 complete off steam (yes.. shoot me), mainly thanks to reading some brilliant AARs (specifically to do with a syndicalist Britain!) and was hoping to be able to install the mod onto my nice shiny copy of the game.

However......

I have encountered a problem. First I tried using the mod manager method, which only resulted in receiving a message saying "DB Error", after pressing ignore several times, the game successfully loaded. The flags and flavour text was all present, and after scrolling down I clicked on the scenario for 1936. I then received a message saying something about an Error on line something or other about a particular aircraft landing spot or something. Then this was followed by a CTD.

Attempts at installing over my Hearts of Iron II folder (both Doomsday and the central one, although not independently) resulted in the same thing. Needless to say, I am starting a clean install, cleaning out the entire Hearts of Iron 2 folder.

Can someone tell me what I've done wrong, and how to get this brilliant looking mod working? Or am I going to fail miserably because the Steam copy of Hearts of Iron 2 can't run the mod?

Thanks in advance!

Hm, well let's go down the list I suppose...

(I dunno how a Steam install is any different from a normal one)

Get a fresh install of Armageddon, then install the 1.3 Beta 2 ARMA patch. Once you got that done, go to the leader folder, and delete every file within the folder, but keep the actual folder. Then scurry on over to the Scenario folder, and delete everything in there but the savegame and data folders. Now for KR! Download KR 1.3 Beta 2 and also Hotfix 9. Copy the KR 1.3 Beta 2 files over the ARMA ones, and then do the same with the Hotfix files.

Come on back and tell us the results. :)

Hi KaiserMuffin and RainbowFire,

I did as you suggested. I had a clean install of HoI2, it said it was version 1.3, and I couldn't find another patch (besides this is steam, so I don't know how it responds to separate patches). I cleaned the db leaders folder, then the scenarios folder of all but the data and savegames folders. After this, I copied across the mod, followed by the hotfix (saying to merge all files, then to copy and replace) into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\hearts of iron 2 complete pack. Following this I started the game.

Only to be met by this "Error. DB error". I clicked ignore multiple times, and the game started up taking me to the main menu (which was fine), the scenarios list was as expected. I clicked on the Union of Britain, then start. The map began to load, and I got the same error as last time:

--Error: (Unrecognisable which or value) 'which = naval_anti_air_l" Line = 1293 file = db\tech\armor_tech.txt ---

Any help with this? I've found the necessary line in the file its talking about, if that helps!

I also noticed that I was starting Hearts of Iron: Complete Pack, although I have the option to start Hearts of Iron: Armageddon. I started that, but all scenarios seem to be the same as normal vanilla (if scenarios with the European Soviets are supposed to be there :p) If that's the case, have I installed the mod in the wrong place?

EDIT= The answer is "yes", i installed it in the wrong place. Stuck the files in the Doomsday folder, same drive, after following your instructions. The mod works perfectly now. I guess the previous errors were the result of installing into the wrong version of the game! Thanks for your support, time to conquer the world for Syndicalism!

For Syndicalism, eh?

I forgot to mention you have to delete your system32 folder.... ;)
