Hey,

I'm currently playing a game as scotland and after annexing the Irish I can't find a way to further expand. England and Danemark are too strong to really fight, with some luck I could take Orkney from Dan. but that's it.
Is there a way I can get a CB on maybe some HRE states like Utrecht (Without CB Austria joins) ? I don't feel like waiting for 100 years until ENG/DAN become weak .
I'm going to colonize, but also would like to expand a bit in Europa because I have no AE.

Austria is going to join when you attack an HRE nation with a CB as well, so getting a CB wouldn't really allow you to do much regardless.

The main CB for countries you can't fabricate claims on, is fabricating a trade conflict instead. You can get that on anyone provided they have enough power in a trade node and you have enough light ships to briefly get enough power in that node as well. It does require WoN though, if I'm not mistaken.

ally wiht people sure to get into wars. occupy some stuff, then peace out seperately. or just go no-cb - it sounds far worse than it is if you don;t make a habit of it.

No CB Brittany; you can vassalize or annex in 1 war. Or if you really want a starting point for expansion, somewhere in the mediterranea is good; there are lot of opportunities there. Otherwise, justify trade conflict.

if you want attack the HRE without the Austria intervention, you should wait when some big power (France, Danish, Ottoman) are in a war with Austria. If Austria is loosing hard, probably it will not join, but you should anyway wait until the right time to declare war

-Get allies in the area you want to expand.
-Guarantee a country who is likely to be attacked by your target.
-Some events, missions and ideas give you casus belli.
-Use 'enforce peace'.

In the old days you could loan money to your target, who would never pay back, and thus grant you a repay debts casus belli. :p

The East Frisia thing is a huge help, thanks for that =)
And you usually can attack the HRE with a cb if you are allied with Austria, it's just a problem when you have none =)
Trade conflict doesnt work, because most OPMs dont have enough trade power, warning etc. didnt seem to work, because the region got into a long peace period after I did that :(.
Btw, does the AI ever accept Loans?
Anyways, thanks for the help =)
