Getting back a male heir from another court

When searching for a bride for my heir, I cam across a cute 8-15-15-15 bride with the right religion, so I proposed a marriage. Unfortunately, she was a Countess in another realm, and immediately after the marriage my heir moved into her palace. How do I get him back? Will he come back to daddy if his wife happens to die in a tragic accident?

(The reason I want him at my court is that I wish to bestow upon him titles in order to ensure his succession under Salic Consanguinity.)

If his wife dies he will most likely return to your court, but there is no 100% guarantee for this.

Not always.

They usually say no, but if you're a 5*King with a massive Empire and15,500 prestige they might be more amenable.

To the original poster: Your son's son will be the next Count of wherever. He will also be in your inheritance line. So let your son's wife be, have a difgferent son as your heir, and make sure that guy has no sons. In a few decades you'll get another County.

One of the nice things about CK is that you'll always learn something new, even after all these years. I thought that they would refuse so that people wouldn't exploit the inheritance system. Personally I stopped offering marriages to them, once Matilda of Canossa said no for 1000th time. I have sometimes used unmarried countess/duchess daughters as way to avoid large demense penalty while ensuring that heir (their brother) will get the lands back later. But now it seems that I was taking unnecessary risks with the inheritance if AI kings can inherit my lands by marrying my king's daughter without my king's consent.

I don't think that female AI rulers marry ... unless the player is lucky (or cheats) to get his offer through. I doubt that AI rulers spam other AI female rulers with marriage offers for their male dynasty members.

So unless you play a MP game, I think you should be pretty safe.

Female rulers never marry out of their own and the AI never proposes to one.

They will always reject proposals from someone with a title, like your active character, but are only very very likely to reject proposals for characters without titles, like your heir.

Ah, good. I started thinking that I might have missed something. I don't usually pay much attention to what female rulers do. I only occasionally give land to unmarried daughters (I give land to my ruler's heir or mother more often than to his unmarried daughters), so I thought I missed something.

Often I marry my king's daughters to some good courtier before I give titles in hope that I will get vassal dynasty which has good genes. Nothing annoys more than those 0/1/0/2 stat dukes whose counts rebel constantly and who can't defeat the counts without king's help.
