Hello!

Is it possible to get a merchant republic vassal by releasing a sector/ liberating another empire? I tried doing it by changing my own empire to a merchant republic and releasing and the new vassal becomes an oligarchy (that is working as intended, as i heard).
Liberating another empire and white peacing (when i am a merchant republic myself) also did not work.

Is there any way to get a merchant republic as vassal now? My original plan was to become one myself, create a new ai empire being one and transition back to regular empire 20 years later.

Are we talking about Stellaris or EU4 now? :)

If you meant MegaCorp vassal you can always vassalize existing megacorp. Sometimes enlightened primitives also turn into megacorps.

I do occasionally think we need a 4th type of special vassal that works like having a special Megacorp Pet. Maybe they get a discount on putting branch offices on you and your other vassals, but in return they gotta give you XY% of their Branch Office trade value.

Maybe they have a penalty to Unity production, and you gotta subsidize them with Unity. Cuz all that Bureaucracy and red tape and overhead. Your government sends dudes to strong arm their negotiations for them
As they level up, they start giving you a lower market fee and extra trade protection.

If you don't mind using console commands, you can do this :

Use "debugtooltip" and hover the mouse on your vassal flag to see their ID number "xx"

Pause the game and type "play xx"
Now enter "free government" and you will be able to change their authority and civics to megacorps.

Type "play 0" to get back to your empire and unpause the game. Enjoy your new pet ;)
