I was scouting around for eligible bachelorettes for my future heir and it was pretty slim pickings… It was either so called princess of noble houses without any claim or less prestigious baronesses with the odd title here and there. I finally settled on this one girl, heir to some small barony who was 14 at the time. Her stats weren’t great so I decided to wait a while till she turned 16 and see what final traits she ended up with.

Well in the end her stats did manage to blossom – her Midas Touch was especially appealing. However when it came to the marriage screen she didn’t want anything to do with my future heir to the Duke of Toulouse.

So I guess the morale of the story is to get them while they’re young…?

Yep young is gambling but easier to get.

IMO 14 is plenty late to be considered marriageable in the middle ages anyhow. This whole 'adult at 16' seems a bit off for the times. But modding it is a chore because dozens of files for events and decisions and more reference '16' as adult age. Oh well.

Hmmm so it is easier to get betrothals with girls that haven’t reached adulthood. And the downside would be that your wife could end up being a bit mediocre in terms of stats since you don’t know how she’ll turn out...

It does seem that your spouses are rather disposable… I mean in theory you could marry a rather mediocre princess purely for her inheritance. Then when you have a child that inherits her claim, have her assassinated so you can actually marry the courtier of your dreams (in terms of stats) that helps you rule. Do you actually get any advantages at all by staying faithful in terms of gameplay?

Also does your children get any penalties when you kill off their mother when they’re young? (provided that your plot doesn’t get discovered). It would be kinda cool if the children has a 50% change of getting some sort of negative emo trait if they lose a parent when they’re growing up. Similarly maybe the game can also reward you by giving small stat boosts to children who grows up with both parents happily married and in love :)

Yes, from experience Id say that multiple spouses and half-brothers scenarios yield much more assassination-prone families. Staying faithful tends to produce less fratricide families.

No, and neither should they IMO. The discovery risk alone is sufficient deterrence.
